MHPSS coordinator-Beirut

Under the supervision of the Deputy General Coordinator, the MHPSS coordinator has the responsibility to oversee all MHPSS programming for the country’s response, ensuring technical quality and impact of the MHPSS program by designing, planning, implementing, monitoring, evaluating, and reporting of all MdM supported MHPSS intervention. The MHPSS coordinator will ensure MHPSS programing is aligned with MdM strategy and that intervention are of high quality and adapted to emergency context.

Main responsibilities:

  1. Leading the development of MdM MHPSS strategy and lead the overall supervision of its implementation.
  2. Leading the development of monitoring, documentation and evaluation systems for MHPSS activities.
  3. Harmonization and development of MHPSS resources.
  4. Contribution to the Communication and advocacy on MHPSS.
  5. Support to the MHPSS human resources recruitment, and capacity building.
  6. MHPSS related reporting ,  , representation of MdM at MHPSS level and coordination with external actors.

Main Activities:

  1. Leading the development of MdM MHPSS strategy in Lebanon and lead the overall supervision for its implementation.
  • Supervise the inclusion of MHPSS in needs assessments to inform the development of MHPSS activities.
  • Update the design of MHPSS strategy and activities in line with HQ, national strategies and needs assessed taking into consideration the different levels of MHPSS services.
  • Regularly collaborate with HQ technical referents to develop the mission MH strategies, activities and tools.
  • Provide guidance on the best set of resources to mobilize and activities to serve the operationalization of the strategy.
  • Collaborate closely with MdM Health coordinator to harmonize and integrate MHPSS and health strategies and activities.
  • Follow-up on gender-related recommendations provided by internal and external gender inclusion actors.
  • Provide guidance on the inclusion of most vulnerable people including elderly, children, early married adolescents, etc. in the MHPSS strategies and activities. 
  1. Leading the Monitoring, documentation and evaluation of MHPSS activities.
  • Leading the development, update, review, implementation and adaptation of MHPSS related quality monitoring mechanisms, data collection tools.
  • Overview the monitoring of quality and impact of interventions.
  • Ensure that the team is provided with technical support and guidance on data collection, reporting and analysis
  • Support the development of a comprehensive monitoring and evaluation framework per project and at mission level
  • Contribute to the design of the beneficiary satisfaction survey
  • Support in the field assessments and mapping of MHPSS actors in coordination with field coordinators.
  • Analyze data to better understand the impact, challenges and strengths of MHPSS activities, and lead the adaptation of the response accordingly.
  • Propose and lead lesson-learning and evaluation dynamics
  1. Harmonization and development of MHPSS resources
  • Participate in the review of the different resources, tools and brochures, and adapt them if needed
  • Ensure MHPSS team has access to internal MdM resources as well as external MHPSS and related topics  resources
  • Support in defining adequate resources for implementation of MHPSS activities
  • Develop and design standards, protocols and good practices, review and adapt them when needed
  • Support the development of effective clinical policies, and tools.
  • Lead the MHPSS component at consortium level (e.g. initiate and facilitate discussion among partners, share lessons learned, provide technical inputs, propose and initiate joint activities)
  • Coordinate with NMHP, MdM HQ and other actors to be up to date on new recommended MHPSS models, approaches, guidelines and tools.  
  1. Contribution to the Communication and advocacy on MHPSS
  • Participate in the development of external and internal communication tools for advocacy.
  • Take part in advocacy activities when necessary.
  • Participate in the dissemination of MdM’s approach, results and lessons learnt amongst MHPSS actors in Lebanon, NMHP, MoPH, and among other MdM missions
  • Participate in the definition of the sensitization strategy and the communication media to be used as regards MHPSS component.
  1. Human resources, capacity building, training
  • Ensure team members are trained, supervised and supported on a regular basis.
  • Hold regular team meetings and ensure the proper flow of information within the team. Reinforce good dynamics in the team, collaboration, and teamwork.
  • Support your team members’ professional development, involving them in technical discussions and mentoring him/her adapting to his/her skills and experience.
  • Set up objectives for your team members, monitor their activities, manage the leave requests, provide technical support.
  • Ensure that the technical evaluation for program MHPSS team members performance is done.
  • Design and/or review training curricula and ensure they are implemented.
  • Define the required consultancies for the proper implementation of the project, define selection criteria, and contribute to the selection process.
  1.   MHPSS related reporting ,  , representation of MdM at MHPSS level and coordination with external actors.
  • Regularly coordinate with the NMHP and stay updated in terms of National strategies, SOPs, guidelines and tools developed.  
  • Participate in national MHPSS task force meetings and protection working group , contribute to coordination and common reporting efforts.
  • Participate in meetings with the national health authorities and other stakeholders
  • Participate in meeting with other MdM mission as related to MHPSS
  • Contribute to monthly reporting.
  • Contribute to the preparation, elaboration and writing of concept notes, proposals and donor reports.
  •  
  • Represent MdM in external meetings with local and international actors and other stakeholders when needed.
  • Support HR in the identification and recruitment of potential resources for staff care options for staff debriefing in collaboration with human resources
  • Connect with other MHPSS coordinators within the consortiums, for learning exchange, synergy of action, collaboration on capacity building, lessons learnt and advocacy actions.
  • Collaborate with MdM partners on harm reduction approaches and projects to promote an integrated mental health and substance use service provision model.
  • Participate in monthly and ad-hoc project review meetings and bi-monthly coordination meetings.

Requested Competence/skills:

  • MA in Clinical Psychology 
  • Holds MoPH Licence to practice
  • 5 years of experience in psychotherapy
  • 5 years experience working in NGOs and humanitarian field.
  • At least two years’ experience in similar position
  • Experience in short-term therapy (trained in IPT and/or CBT, or other therapeutic approach)
  • Experience in developing guidelines, tools and monitoring tools.
  • Experience in planning and design of MHPSS lessons learnt and programming activities
  • Experience in presentation, coordination and reporting.
  • TOT diploma and TOT in Mental health topics is an asset.
  • Additional specialization in Public Health, Gender, Social Work or relevant field will be an asset.  
  • Believes in a comprehensive, holistic and recovery approach in mental health.
  • Arabic and English languages are mandatory.
  • Ability to organize, plan and prioritize tasks.
  • Ability to identify strengths and weaknesses and in proposing shared solutions for the continuous improvement of providing quality services.
  • Strong ability to observe, analyse, report and take initiative.
  • Ability to work with a team as well as to work independently.
  • Clear commitment in the project thematic.
  • Ability to communicate any technical or non-technical topic with clarity and to share any important project information with the team.
  • Ability to self-reflect on own work, to recognize what needs improvement and to propose solutions.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft word and excel.
