For more than 30 years, Médecins du Monde, a campaigning medical organization committed to international solidarity, has been caring for the most vulnerable populations at home and abroad. It has continued to highlight obstacles that exist in accessing health care and has secured sustainable improvements in health-for-all policies. Those working for this independent organisation do not solely dispense care and treatment but condemn violations of human dignity and rights and fight to improve matters for populations living in precarious situations.
MdM currently works in 46 countries across all continents where it focuses on 4 priority areas: caring for the health of migrants and displaced persons, promoting sexual and reproductive health, combating HIV and reducing the harm and risks associated with drug use, crises and conflicts.
TASKS AND RESPONSABILITIES :
Under the supervision of the Emergency Project Manager, you main responsibilities will be:
1. Perform quick outbreak response
In case of suspected outbreak, organize and perform field visit for further in-depth analysis of the situation
In case suspected outbreak is confirmed, planning of adequate outbreak emergency response
2. Coordinate epidemic outbreaks with other partners (MoH, WHO, INGO, NGO, etc.)
Share surveillance data with partners in health cluster meetings
Inform relevant partners in case of epidemic outbreak detection
Coordinate outbreak response with relevant partners
3. Intervene in case of massive influx of Refugee Population into Lebanon according to identified needs
Make assessment of influx area
In case of need provide mobile short term basic health coverage
Coordinate with other partners concerning needs from the influx area (WASH, etc.)
Provide health education to population in influx area to prevent communicable outbreaks
4. Provide capacity building of relevant health personal in emergency response and prevention of outbreaks
Train and prepare health staff from relevant facilities in emergency health response
Train and provide health education for prevention of communicable outbreaks
5. Preparation and handling of emergency drug and medical material boxes
Prepare emergency boxes with relevant medications and medical consumables for possible emergency intervention
Handling of emergency boxes in coordination with storekeeper/pharmacist.
CONDITIONS OF EMPLOYMENT:
Starting: 1st April 2014
Contract: Employee – Fixed term contract
Duration: 10 months (renewable)

Post based in one of the operational bases of Medecins du Monde in Lebanon (Beirut and Zahle).
As part of the Emergency Response Unit team, you need to be flexible in term of travelling inside Lebanon, including overnight stays if required.
SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE NEEDED:
Qualified Nurse
Theoretical knowledge in public health is preferred
Experience in public health sector is an asset
Experience working with NGO is helpful, but not mandatory.
High Motivation for challenging and complex task and good common sense
Strong skills in communication, mediation and cooperation
Ability to cope with difficult security context.
Capacity to live in basic condition in the field
To be able to work as part of a team and participate in all activities of the mobile response unit.
To be able and willing to work in a multi-cultural environment.
Arabic and English language is mandatory.
