Psychologist For Bekaa Area

Main responsibilities:   Coordinate Mental Health and Psychosocial Support (MHPSS) activities among different mental health staff and with PHC staff. Supervise and coordinate community mental health workers interventions. Diagnose and treat mental health cases. Sensitisation and capacity building among PHC staff about MHPSS. Establish referral system between community and PHC Centre as well as to secondary treatment level. Analysis, detection and reduction of risk factors influencing the mental health status at community level. Develop and perform preventive measures for stable mental health at community and PHC Centre level.         Main responsibilities and activities of the Psychologists can change according to the organization of the work and to the composition of the team.     Main activities:   1.     Coordinate mental health activities among different mental health staff and with PHC staff   Work with a team on mental health issues presented in a PHC Centres and in the communities/settlements Assessment of mental health needs and proposition of interventions in association with the partner PHC Centres to improve or settle mental health coverage. Participation to the definition and the setting up of the data analysis process within the whole project and in collaboration with the partner PHC Centre. Participate in creating a mental health sheet for the health care centres; Weekly reporting on mental health activities and data collected. Participate in regular meetings with key actors, GSMH and PHC departments; Participation in network/coordination meetings concerning mental health. Participation to MDM internal meetings and individual meetings with the mental health program manager. Manage and organise the mental health team in the best outfit.     2.     Diagnose and treat mental health cases. Basic mental health interventions such as individual counselling and psychotherapy and group support interventions. Coordinate the Case management with other staff involved in MHPSS issues.     3.     Supervise and coordinate community mental health interventions   Define with mobile community mental health worker approach and interventions on community level Focus on information dissemination and collecting opinions to foster knowledge and self-control of people living in the community and informal settlements   4.     Sensitisation and capacity building among PHC staff about mental health.   Prepare awareness/training sessions about MHPSS guidelines for Primary Health Care centres; Train in cooperation with MH Coordinator the Community Health Workers and other partner’s staff involved in MHPSS issues.     5.     Establish referral system between community and PHC Centre as well as to secondary treatment level   Develop with mobile community mental health worker referral system between community and PHC level. Establish and supervise a referral system to secondary mental health care.   6.     Analysis, detection and reduction of risk factors influencing the mental health status at community level   Explore and detect in collaboration with mobile community mental health worker potential risk factors influencing mental health status of the target population. Coordinate with other stakeholders to reduce and/or eliminate potential risk factors.   7.     Develop and perform preventive measures for stable mental health at community and PHC Centre level   Create and Implement in collaboration with other staff innovative preventive mental health interventions such as art therapy, psychodrama, etc.     Behaviour:   To behave with self-restraint at all times and respect the dignity of the beneficiaries. Respect each team member’s position, work and specialty. Adapt to special situations or demands from supervisor.   Requested Competence/Skills/Profile   University degree in Psychology. Experience in clinic psychology preferred. Following the internationally accepted bio-psycho-social concept of mental health. Convinced of a comprehensive approach towards positive mental health. Arabic language is mandatory. Experience working with NGO is preferred. Ability to cope with difficult security context. Capacity to live in basic condition in the field. Good Coordination and Communication skills are a key factor to this position. Excellence in organize, plan and prioritize tasks. Ability to manage a small team, in providing important advices, in coordinating the technical team work, in identifying strong and weak points and in proposing shared solutions in conflict situations. Strong ability to observe, analyse, report and take initiative. Ability to work with a team and as well to work independent. Ability to seek for, to collect, and critically analyse data and information needed to achieve the tasks. Clear commitment in the project thematic. Ability to communicate any technical or non-technical topic with clarity and to share with your team any important project information. Proficiency with word, excel environment. Ability to self-reflect your work, to recognize what needs improvement and to propose solutions.
