Social Worker/psychosocial Counsellor

Main responsibilities:   Assist Psychiatrist, Psychologist and mental health nurse in mental health response at PHC level Assist mental health nurse in Triage Assist with listening to people who want to talk Assist with referral of mental health cases to secondary level and follow up     Main Activities:   Assist in setting up new coordination between PHC somatic unit and mental health unit Help triage/coordination mental health nurse for triage and coordination Take over identified “just listening” cases and listen Document and feedback on any relevant issues mentioned by the patients Help coordinate psychosomatic cases between somatic and mental health team Assist in organising and implementing referrals to secondary level Assist in follow up and coordinate with community mental health worker Help with and suggest interventions concerning the improvement of mental health response at PHC Centre and community level     Behaviour:   To behave with self-restraint at all times and treat the patients kindly and respect their dignity To be able to work as part of a team and participate in all activities of the mental health unit Believe in concepts of equity, human rights, neutrality and impartiality and act accordingly       Requested Competence:   At least high school degree Higher education in any kind of social/medical science or/and mental health an asset Fluent in Arabic language Mentally stable with the capacity to endure suffering and sad stories Good common sense and a view for the “global picture” Mediation skills High capacity of taking over the perspective of others Strong in Communication and Cooperation
