Mental Health Supervisor

Main Purpose

 

MSF in S-Beirut runs its Mental Health activities as integrated component where medical services are provided in Shatila PHC and WHC and in our community health center in Bourj el Barajneh. The role of the MH supervisor for S-Beirut project is to participate in the planning, coaching, supervision and coordination of mental health / pycho-social related services in the project in accordance with MSF standards in order to provide the most appropriate mental health support for patients.

 

Accountabilities

  • MH support of Syrian and Palestinian refugees and other vulnerable population in Shatila and Bourj el Barajneh and surrounding areas
  • Participate in planning, organization, monitoring and development of the MH activities to ensure an efficient and effective implementation of the resources needed while maintaining high levels of quality
  • Technical support and supervision, coaching and training of MH team members whenever needed according to a set plan to enhance the quality of MH activities, supervision of referrals, regular MH team meetings and detailed monitoring of both quality and efficiency of their work
  • Mapping and networking with relevant NGOs providing services for MH patients in need of special support. Assess MHPSS needs of identified NGO’s in communities. Provide training, capacity building and awareness and psycho-education groups to staff of local NGOs and to beneficiaries in communities
  • Participate in regular meetings (Project and medical meetings) and ensure good collaboration with other medical and non-medical team members to assure patients in need receive adequate MH support
  • Supervision of MH teams with technical and organizational planning of activities, working hours, leaves. Promote the professional development of MH staff, assess their training needs and encourage participation on relevant national training opportunities. Oversee the administrative processes associated with psychosocial functioning
  • Report, analyse, and evaluate the MH activities according to the expected standard and deadlines
  • Ensure that patient data and files are treated with in a confidential manner and that the MH services are provided to the highest ethical standards

 

Education

Masters in clinical psychology or psychotherapy

 

Minimum requirements

  • 3-5 year professional experience as a clinical psychologists or psychotherapist and at least 2 years experience of being supervised.
  • Experience in working with children
  • Experience in providing supervision for teams of MH professionals or counselors would be an asset.
  • Experience of working with war and/or displacement affected people

 

Languages

Fluent in Arabic, and with strong ability to communicate in English (oral and written)

  • Trained on and able to provide supervision on evidence-based psychotherapies and psycho-social support
  • Strong IT skills (word, excel, internet, power-point),
  • Ability to synthesize data, monitor and evaluate interventions, and strong report writing skills.

  • Experience in providing supervision, coaching and training on evidence-based MH intervention techniques
