PSYCHOLOGIST_ South Lebanon

Main Purpose

Providing psychological support to patients according to MSF principles, standards and procedures in order to improve the patients’ mental health.

Accountabilities

  • Provide psychological support and consultations (individual and family) to vulnerable persons either in community-based settings or shelters. Offer individual consultations to displaced persons experiencing emotional distress related to conflict, displacement, loss, or uncertainty.
  • Assist in developing key messages and carry out promotion of mental health services in shelters and communities.
  • Assist in carrying out rapid assessments for the need of mental health services.
  • Support and train other team members in the provision of psychological first aid to vulnerable and displaced persons.
  • Identify, assess and refer mental health cases in need of further care by collaborating with the social worker.
    Refer individuals requiring specialized mental health, psychiatric, medical, or protection services according to established referral pathways.
  • Facilitate psychosocial group sessions for children and adults:
    Conduct psychoeducation on relevant and pertinent topics, facilitate PSS activities for children.
  • Collect statistical and monitoring data about mental health activities using standardized forms and tools.
    Document all consultations and activities while ensuring patient confidentiality contribute to reporting on psychosocial needs and trends observed among displaced populations.

Requirements

Education

Essential Master’s degree in clinical psychology 

MoPH license to practice clinical psychology in Lebanon required

Registration with LOPsy (Lebanese Order of Psychologists)

Experience

Essential: minimum two years’ experience working as a psychologist

Desirable: previous work experience with: MSF or other NGOs in developing countries

Languages                        

Arabic and English (fluent)

Knowledge

Computer literacy (word, excel and internet) required
