Responsibilities of the position:
Comply with the health and safety rules for the sites.
Take a regular inventory of consumables (tea, coffee, sugar, toilet paper, soap, detergents, etc.) and inform the line manager to avoid depletion of stocks.
Daily:
Clean MSF premises, in particular:
- Ventilate all rooms;
- Sweep and mop the floors;
- Clean the toilets (detergent) in the morning upon arrival and at the beginning of the afternoon;
- Dust furniture;
- Clean ceilings, removing spiders and cobwebs;
- Wash dishes, if this has not been done by the Cook;
- Empty the waste bins.
If working in an office:
- Upon arrival, prepare hot water for tea/coffee;
- Ensure that there is always drinking water available (filter, bottles, etc.);
- Check that the toilets are well stocked with paper, soap and condoms;
- Check that the water supply (kitchen, showers, etc.) is sufficient during water cuts;
Ensure that the premises are properly locked (doors, windows) and leave an outside light on
when the premise are unoccupied.
Regular:
If working in an office:
- Clean the furniture at least twice a week;
- Clean the water filters every week and change the filter at least once every 6 months;
- Wash curtains and other fabrics at least once a month.
Clean the windows at least once a month.
Assist with setting up the premises for events or meetings.
Reporting:
Inform the line manager, on a weekly basis, of any installation or equipment maintenance/repair
needs within the assigned premises.
Immediately inform the line manager and/or technical adviser when urgent repairs are required or urgent measures must be taken to safeguard the premises (in the event of infestation by insects, rats, etc.).
