Community Interpreter/ Baalbeck

Médecins Sans Frontières (MSF) is an international, independent, medical humanitarian organisation that delivers emergency aid to people affected by armed conflict, epidemics, healthcare exclusion and natural or man-made disasters.   Scope of responsibilities: To do verbal interpretation whenever is required.during extrenal and internal meetings Translate documents from the mission language to local language(s) or vice versa. To act as a community liason when there are not translation needs. To assits in field activities regarding the project, context analysis and Plan of Action.   Responsibilities   1.                   Interpreting Participate in internal and external meetings as an interpreter Translate literally what is being said and avoid expressing personal opinions, unless it is specifically asked for. Is always respectful towards patients, collaborators, authorities, military factions and MSF staff participating in meetings or discussions. Able to adapt to any circumstances, use appropriate language registry, diplomatic, courtesy manners   2.                   Written translations Translate MSF internal / external documents into local language(s). Translate documents written in local language(s) into the mission language. Is aware of all terms related to MSF, medical activities, administration, logistics, security, etc. and ask for any support that could enable the work of translating. Keep record of all translated documents       3.                   Others Acting as a community liason when there are not translation needs,  facilitating contacts with local authorities and other NGOs Report activities and anaylisis of the situation. Could propose protocols and guideline for medical activities if doesn’t exist (after validation by the technical referent) According to MSF protocols and guidelines, and in order to ensure continuity of care when the he/she is not on the spot, could be asked to define treatment protocols or treatment adaptation to be applied by nurses
