Community Interpreter (English/arabic) Bekaa Valley

-Scope of responsibility: •    To do verbal interpretation whenever an expatriate requires it either within the medical facilities or outside. •    Translate documents from the mission language to local language(s) or vice versa. -Function responsibilities include: Interpreting •          Ensure simultaneous oral translation upon request from an expatriate inside or outside medical facilities in daily activities (medical round, consultations, interviews, meetings, etc.). He/she will inform the expatriate about important cultural nuances to take into account during the interview. •          Participate in staff trainings and meetings as an interpreter •          Translate literally what is being said and avoid expressing personal opinions, unless it is specifically asked for. •          Is always respectful towards patients, collaborators, authorities, military factions and MSF staff participating in meetings or discussions. •          Able to adapt to any circumstances, use appropriate language registry, diplomatic, courtesy manners   Written translations       •          Translate MSF internal / external documents into local language(s). •          Translate documents written in local language(s) into the mission language and vice versa. •          Is aware of all terms related to MSF, medical activities, administration, logistics, security, etc. and ask for any support that could enable the work of translating. •          Keep record of all translated documents

-Required qualification:
 Essential secondary education, university degree in translation is desirable, health knowledge advisable.
 Ability to work in a multi-disciplinary and multicultural environment, good communication skills, proven sense of discretion and confidentiality according to medical ethics, courtesy, accuracy, patience, flexibility, open-mindedness
