Counselor Educator

MAIN PURPOSE Perform education, support and counseling sessions to patients with non-communicable diseases, following medical and educational MSF protocols and procedures, in order to improve their health outcomes.   ACCOUNTABILITIES Provide patients with non-communicable disease (NCD) a comprehensive educational package on: Their disease (pathology, prognosis and possible complications) and its treatment linked to patient’s specific educational needs and priorities. Self-care skills (tailored to patient’s needs) Provide support and counselling relating to specific patient’s therapeutic needs, living conditions, educational and social status, and barriers to adherence…etc. Establish an individual care plan including clear objectives, priorities, actions the patient needs to take, resources available Plan for follow up with the patients and track those who miss their appointments. Carry out group education sessions when needed, e.g. groups of caregivers, peer groups, specific disease literacy group. Fill Patient Support, Education and Counselling (PSEC) documents timely and adequately Collaborate with the NCD team, provide feedbacks, conduct case study/management meetings Refer patients to specialized departments when necessary e.g. psychologist, referral nurse, HP team, or to other institutions if applicable. Participate in the creation of any material needed for PSEC activities and look after it. Inform line manager of any problem of any kind arising during the day-to-day activities. Take active part in trainings, supervisions/intervisions and support the activities manager when necessary in doing sensitization for MSF staff or external partners about PSEC issues. Reporting: monthly figures, registry, indicators…etc on regular basis
