MAIN RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Give the job related care while respecting medical prescriptions and protocols that apply in the MSF service.
- Ensure admission of patient and follow up of labour/delivery and post-natal.
- Register and complete a hospitalisation file.
- Direct normal delivery (including patients needing to be referred for caesarian section):
Carry out delivery with active management when necessary and first care of the new-born and to refer any complications for second level care; in case of complications, carry out resuscitation of the new-born.
-Carry out prolonged deliveries in collaboration with the head midwife and the doctor: detect prolonged labour or delivery and signs of complications. Take charge independently of certain complications and administer medication with the agreement of the head midwife.
- Ensure/supervise the follow up and daily cares of the new-borns and the mothers in the maternity ward:
(vital signs, distribute-administer the medication, carrying out of vaccination...).
-Follow up with good documentation and reporting of any investigations/examination undertaken.
-Ensure post-natal and family planning follow up (deliveries and caesarian sections):
Provide preventive /curative treatment and family planning consultation before discharge.
Follow up of the new-borns and promotes exclusive breastfeeding.
Prepare the discharge of mothers and their babies.
- Participate in collecting needed data for monthly reports.
-Hygiene / asepsis, waste disposal and stock keeping:
sterilisation procedures, patients/facility hygiene, maintaining medication and medical stock supplies.
-Upon request, the nurse-midwife can be sent to work in an other ward of the hospital:
onsultations of reproductive health (family planning, ante-natal, post-natal)
-Do rotational duties when necessary to assure 24/24 hours activity (including night shift).

Midwife experience: at least one year Obstetrical or surgical experience desired.
Nurses with Midwife experience are encouraged to apply.
