- Apply medical knowledge and skills to diagnose and prevention to ensure integrated paediatric care through Emergency, ICU, IPD, OPD services in paediatric care. Prescribing the necessary treatment respecting MSF protocols. Collaborate closely with the different department of the hospital.
- Keep the patient and/or his/her family informed about the illness and provide appropriate explanations about the treatment to follow, checking they have understood. Ensure good attitude and proper bedside manner towards the patient and their care takers by him/herself and the rest of the medical team.
- Follow up the evolution of the hospitalized patients, through daily visits, consultations and examinations, prescribing the necessary treatment following MSF protocols, deciding whether they can be discharged or transferred to other departments – in collaboration with other doctors- and informing their family about the patient’s evolution.
- Check and control the rational distribution of medicines and equipment under his/her responsibility and take care the quality, disinfection and sterilization of the medical material. Assure general compliance with standing hygiene standards.
- Discusses any problem or complication of the patient’s illness, medical incident and monitors the proper functioning of the department, equipment or material and address the list of the missing item for paediatric activities.
- As an expert in paediatric, propose strategy (modification on paediatric care management) and implement them after validation of Operation and Paediatric Advisor. Ensure ongoing paediatric training (formal and bedside) of the medical/paramedical multidisciplinary team in order to optimize the paediatric quality of care. Review and discuss selected complicated cases or mistakes and give technical input.
- Collect Clinical cases for further trainings and list a series of comment to improve the current MSF protocol.
- Maintain medical and non-medical equipment and inform the line manager if any damages.
- Knows and is aware of the importance and appropriate use of the Post Exposure Prophylaxis (PEP) Kit.
- Assist and support any other tasks if the line manager asks.
- Participate the mortality review, training, meeting, and any other events depending on the work schedule.
- Knows and ensures all MSF medical protocols are followed and implemented, checking universal precautions are followed at all times and reducing bio-hazard risks and improving infection control.
- Ensures professional confidentiality is respected.
