Research Nurse

Médecins Sans Frontières (MSF) is an international, independent, medical humanitarian organisation that delivers emergency aid to people affected by armed conflict, epidemics, natural disasters and exclusion from healthcare in almost 70 countries around the world. MSF offers assistance to people based on need and irrespective of race, religion, gender or political affiliation. When MSF witnesses serious acts of violence, neglected crises, or obstructions to its activities, the organisation may speak out about this. Médecins Sans Frontières (MSF) began working in Lebanon in 1976 in response to the Lebanese Civil War, sending medical teams to the south of the country and Beirut. This was MSF’s first mission to a war zone. Today, MSF is present in the North of Lebanon, the Bekaa Valley, Beirut and Saïda, offering, free and high quality primary health care  services to people in need continually since 2011. This includes treatment of acute diseases and a comprehensive reproductive health package, in addition to mental health support and health promotion services. MSF also offers treatment for chronic diseases and runs three mother and child care centres across the country. Main Purpose: Perform clinical laboratory activities according to MSF protocols, security and hygiene measures in order to obtain results to determine the patient’s treatment. Be the focal point for the Joachim Score operational research.  Accountabilities: Providing explanation to the study participants According to medical prescription, prepare and perform clinical exams/tests with appropriate techniques and following MSFprotocols and procedures. This function includes, among others:   Taking mouth swabs. Ensure proper reporting and registration of the sample results in order to keep a written track of activity and give information to the relevant persons, ensuring confidentiality. Take care, manage and organize efficiently the laboratory material/equipment:   Apply hygiene and safety protocols and doing daily cleaning Ensuring proper sample waste disposal according to MSF protocols and highest safety standards. Storage conditions follow-up and  keep track of inventory of relevant material. Keep organized the data collection system of laboratory results and all information generated from the analysis done. Report all relevant information linked to the activity in the laboratory to the line manager, especially the loss/robbery/damage of laboratory equipment or medicines. Conducting data entry on analytical software Education Essential  Laboratory Technician or Nursing diploma /degree. Experience Minimum 1 year working experience essential. Languages              Mission language desirable and local language essential.
