Social Worker

Médecins Sans Frontières (MSF) is an international, independent, medical humanitarian organisation that delivers emergency aid to people affected by armed conflict, epidemics, healthcare exclusion and natural or man-made disasters. I- Scope of responsibilities: Carry out all the activities linked to the social field in order to ease the patient situation and to maximize its adherence The Social Worker must ensure confidentiality in all his/her activities. II- Function responsibilities: a- Network: Keep; maintain a network of social partners that can provide answers to social problems (institutions, NGOs…etc.) b- Social activities: Identification of social, psychosocial, socio-economic and administrative needs among patients Provide information, advise on existing social services Provide immediate social care (actively listening, clothes…etc.) Refer patient and his/her social problems to the relevant person or institution (inside or outside MSF) c-Monitoring, reporting: Participate in the development of the plan of action Keep statistics updated about his/her activity Report immediately to the technical referent any problem arising in the service, especially the loss/ robbery/damage of medical equipment or medicines. III- Specific activities Linked to context The social worker should help in the detection of patients with medical conditions that need help within the community of reference. The social worker may be involved in the follow up of patients, psycho/health education of patient and family in the health centre or the community The social worker will be involved in providing information on all MSF services
