Médecins Sans Frontières (MSF) is an international, independent, medical humanitarian organisation that delivers emergency aid to people affected by armed conflict, epidemics, natural disasters and exclusion from healthcare in almost 70 countries around the world. MSF offers assistance to people based on need and irrespective of race, religion, gender or political affiliation. When MSF witnesses serious acts of violence, neglected crises, or obstructions to its activities, the organisation may speak out about this.
Médecins Sans Frontières (MSF) began working in Lebanon in 1976 in response to the Lebanese Civil War, sending medical teams to the south of the country and Beirut. This was MSF’s first mission to a war zone.
Today, MSF is present in the North of Lebanon, the Bekaa Valley, Beirut and Saïda, offering, free and high quality primary health care services to people in need continually since 2011. This includes treatment of acute diseases and a comprehensive reproductive health package, in addition to mental health support and health promotion services. MSF also offers treatment for chronic diseases and runs three mother and child care centres across the country.
Main purpose:
Execute the medical warehouse storing activities in order to keep pharmacy stock above security level and following recommended conditions (temperature, humidity, etc.) under the supervision of the Logistic Manager, and in collaboration with the Project Pharmacist and the medical team.
Accountabilities:
Supervise material orders and dispatching in order to ensure rational use.
Receive orders and deliveries, identifying potential disparities against cargo manifest or others and reporting them, and stores materials in accordance with the system in force, in order to ensure continuous availability. It includes:
Ensure correct filling in of entries on the stock cards and software, including medical devices and related items (collaborating with project biomedical service)
Prepare orders of the different clinics, ensuring the packaging and proper dispatching, reporting any anomalies or changes in consumption patterns to the Logistic Manager. Inform the Logistic Manager as soon as stock reaches alert limit. and before dispatching any medical devices.
Carry out or participate in regular inventories including EPREP (emergency preparedness) stock.
Report missing material/ damage/ robbery.
Control warehouse limited access to authorized personnel and ensure doors and other exists are secured.
Ensures good storage conditions of all items in the pharmacy.
Control warehouse facilities in order to ensure materials good keeping conditions. It includes:
Monitor temperature in the warehouse and ensure that products requiring cold chain are suitably stored and transports received and prepared appropriately according to MSF Supply and Cold Chain protocols
Ensure cleanliness of premises (stock pharmacy).
Maintain refrigerating equipment in close collaboration with the logistics department.
Follows up stock levels with regards to alarms thresholds, stock out, expiry dates and drugs to expire in the following 6 months. Make a report and passes it to the supervisor
MSF Section/Context Specific Accountabilities:
Complete all the tables for monitoring stock movements and consumption.
In conjunction with the Logistic Manager, perform inventories in accordance with the frequency defined with the Supply Manager.
Carry out various maintenance tasks (e.g. setting up racks).
Follow truck deliveries to MSF’s premises or partners and be present during these.
Ensure the storekeeper assistant’s capacity to cover absences of the pharmacy storekeeper.
