Main Purpose:

Implement Health Promotion/IEC (Information, Education, Communication) activities with patients and local population to raise their knowledge and skills on relevant medical topics.

Specific Activities :

• Inform patients and communities about MSF and services it provides.
• According to medical priorities, deliver information to the patients and community on specific health topics
• Implement activities of health education and awareness (sessions in schools, churches, community), under the indications and supervision of the HP Supervisor.
• Under the guide of HP Supervisor, assess the impact of activities (with questions, verifications and behaviors observations), and report problems, success and constraints to him/her.
• Collect all type of information related to specific health and living conditions of the population, in particular to identify the most vulnerable populations to target.
• Report to HP Supervisor: activities, problems met, strengths and constraints.
• Establish and maintain contacts with social partners, including other NGO’s, governmental health services that can provide answers to social problems.

Participate in creation of any material needed for the activities of information, education and communication

MSF Section/Context Specific Accountabilities:

• Participate in defining and updating the Health Promotion (Information, Education, Communication) strategy, and setting indicators to monitor the progress of Health Promotion activities.
• With support of Health Promotion supervisor, follow-up on health education session(s) integrated in the clinic (video messaging, ensure availability of Health Promotion tools, update health education scheduled, etc.)
• Participate actively in the adaptation of Health Promotion messages and tools according to the needs of the target population (identify needs, contextualisation, pretesting, feedback)
• Report to Health Promotion supervisor any Health Promotion activities challenges, strengths, community compliants.
• Collect, encode and generate Health Promotion related data  (daily reports, assessments, refferals, monthly report drafts, etc.)
• In collaboration with the Health Promotion supervisor, ensure that the community health education approach is implemented and progress is monitored.
• Participate in training of the Health Promotion team.
• With support of the Health Promotion supervisor, technically supervise the community health workers (planning of activities, coaching, mentoring, training and supervision)

Requirements

Education

Essential bachelor’s degree in public health or social studies (social science, social work, social commutation)

Experience

Desirable 2 years of previous work experience in Health Promotion.

Desirable previous MSF or I/NGO experience.

Languages                            

Arabic is essential; English is desirable
