Intersectional Medical coordination assistant

Accountabilities

 

  • Participating actively in reflections and discussions on the evolution of MSF programs in the mission, contributing with his/her background and experience to the improvement of overall performance, adapting it to the changing reality and context.
  • Participating in the collection of medical information (meetings, reports, articles, etc.) and data (epidemiological data, statistics, etc.).
  • Supports project development by answering medical questions from the field, participants in briefings and debriefings of staff and replaces temporarily a member of the field team when necessary in order to keep a smooth functioning of the projects.
  • In support of the medical coordinator, representing MSF in meetings or with different stakeholders. Assisting the MedCo in the stakeholder mapping (organigram of MoH, etc.)
  • Carrying out the medical follow-up of all MSF national and international staff in application of MSF’s staff health policies, supervising together with the administrator the medical expenses associated in order to protect personnel’s health state while keeping close control to the resources required.
  • Carries out administrative, information gathering and data collection tasks, and ensures regular reportingin order to have updated and reliable information about the day-to-day activities in the project and further supports decision-taking.
  • On the request of the Medical Coordinator, carries out extra tasks (one-off reinforcement for a field team, participation in an evaluation, etc.) requested of him/her.

 

MSF Section/Context Specific Accountabilities

 

  • The Medical Coordinator Assistant (MedCo Assistant) will have a unique role in being largely responsible for the review, implementation, and support of the different national staff health policy between the different MSF sections  in Lebanon.
  •  With the support of the Medical Coordinators, the MedCo Assistant will follow up on tasks assigned to him/her with regards to updating the national staff health policy and follow up on the dossier of having an intersectional policy.
  • The MedCo Assistant will be responsible for the processing of the national staff’s dental and vision care reimbursements (unless the health policy changes) with the support of the Finance department.
  • The MedCo Assistant will also support the DMedCo and the Finance department in the review of the health plan offered by different insurance companies contracted for the coverage of staff health costs when MSF initiates a competive bid analysis, using the ‘Common Frame’ as a guide.
  • The MedCo Assistant will be responsible for making sure that staff in Coordination and in the projects are aware of the health benefits and the processing of medical reimbursements through regular ‘refreshers’.
  • The MedCo Assistant will brief new arrivals (both nationals and expats) on their health benefits and how to apply for reimbursements. For expat staff, their health coverage is via MSH International.
  • The MedCo Assistant will be the designated focal point at Coordination level to follow pending medical reimbursements for staff (both at Coordination and at project level) with the insurance company if and only if the staff have tried to resolve the issue on their own with the insurance company and have failed.
  • The MedCo Assistant will support expat staff with any health requests.

Education

Medical or paramedical degree is essential.

Experience

  • Essential working experience in developing countries.
  • Desirable working experience in MSF or other NGOs.
  • Desirable working experience in staff health

Languages             

Arabic and English

Knowledge

Essential computer literacy (word, excel, internet)

Desirable knowledge on general NSSF reimbursement procedures
