Doctors Without Borders / Médecins Sans Frontières (MSF) is an international medical humanitarian organization created by doctors and journalists in 1971. Today, MSF provides independent, impartial assistance in more than 60 countries to people whose survival is threatened by violence, neglect, or catastrophe, primarily due to armed conflict, epidemics, malnutrition, and exclusion from health care or natural disasters. MSF in Lebanon currently has 2 projects mainly on primary health care and mental health, in Nabatiyeh and the Bekaa valley.

Type of contract: 60%, fixed term 12 months, renewable upon need
Updated competitive salary package with benefits including allowances, medical coverage, and 5 weeks of paid leave per year

Scope of responsibility: MSF
To support the integration of mental health care within selected PHCCs and mobile clinics through clinical supervision, capacity building, and direct service delivery following mhGAP principles and MSF guidelines.
Specific Accountabilities
Capacity Building and Mentorsship
- Deliver mhGAP-based training and refresher sessions to PHCC and mobile clinic staff (doctors, nurses, psychologists, and social workers).
- Support joint consultations to reinforce practical skills in mental health assessment, diagnosis, and management.
- Identify specific learning needs of each PHCC and adapt training methods accordingly.
- Support PHCC clinicians in implementing psychosocial support components and referral pathways.
- Develop and update training materials and supervision tools adapted to local context and MoPH standards.
Clinical Supervision and Quality of Care
- Ensure that mhGAP-trained clinicians provide safe and effective care in line with MSF protocols and national guidelines.
- Supervise and review complex mental health cases, providing guidance on management, risk assessment, and referral.
- Conduct clinical audits and case discussions to reinforce best practices and problem-solving skills.
- Promote a multidisciplinary approach between medical and psychosocial staff.
- Participate in joint meetings and feedback sessions to ensure harmonized follow-up across sites.
Mobile Clinics
- Provide mhGAP consultations within MSF mobile units, ensuring quality of diagnosis, treatment, and follow-up.
- Work collaboratively with the mobile team to ensure patient-centered care.
Monitoring, Evaluation, and Learning
- Support collection and analysis of mental health indicators and training outcomes.
- Participate in supervision visits and contribute to continuous improvement of mhGAP implementation.
- Provide regular feedback and propose adjustments to improve quality and sustainability of integration.
Patient Education and Health Promotion
- Collaborate with mental health team to strengthen patient and caregiver education.
- Promote anti-stigma and awareness activities integrated into PHCC and community outreach.
- Reinforce communication skills among clinicians to improve patient engagement and adherence.
Requirements
Education
- Essential: Diploma of Medicine from a recognized university
- Essential: Ministry of public health practice license as doctor in Lebanon
- Essential: Certificate of registration at the Lebanese order of physicians-LOP
- Essential: ToT mhGAP training certificate essential
- Desirable: Postgraduate training in psychiatry, family medicine, or related mental health field is an asset
Experience
- Essential: Minimum 2 years of experience in clinical management of mental health conditions using mhGAP framework
- Essential: Proven experience in training, mentoring, or supervising medical or psychosocial staff
- Desirable: Experience in NGO or PHCC settings and familiarity with MoPH mental health integration strategy is an advantage
- Desirable: Experience providing consultations in mobile or outreach settings is an asset
Languages
- Essential: Full professional proficiency using the Arabic and English Language
- Desirable: Elementary to limited professional proficiency using the French Language
Knowledge
Essential: basic to intermediate knowledge of MS-Office applications (word, excel, Outlook)
