Doctors Without Borders / Médecins Sans Frontières (MSF) is an international medical humanitarian organization created by doctors and journalists in 1971. Today, MSF provides independent, impartial assistance in more than 60 countries to people whose survival is threatened by violence, neglect, or catastrophe, primarily due to armed conflict, epidemics, malnutrition, and exclusion from health care or natural disasters. MSF in Lebanon currently has 2 projects mainly on primary health care and mental health, in Nabatiyeh and the Bekaa valley.

Type of contract: 100%, fixed term 12 months, renewable upon need

Place of work: Bekaa (based in Baalbek)

Salary:  110,085,000 LBP per month (USD 1,230 per month)

Scope of responsibility: MSF

Verbal interpretation, in person or remotely, during daily medical activities (medical round, consultations, interviews, meetings, etc.) and written translations, from the mission language to local language(s) or vice versa, in order to ensure accurate, respectful, fluent and confidential communication between medical staff and local population. 

Specific Accountabilities

• Preserve professional neutrality and avoid personal opinions or judgments.
• Explain clearly medical terminology in simple, culturally appropriate language when needed to support patient understanding.
• Uphold patient privacy and confidentiality in all interactions, in line with healthcare ethics and data protection standards.
• Adhere strictly to ethical principles of medical interpretation, including accuracy, impartiality, and confidentiality.
• Provide accurate verbal and written translation during trainings, meetings, clinical activities, and field operations when required.
• Collaborate closely on interpretation and translation with:

• Healthcare providers (doctors, nurses…., and other clinical staff)
• Administrative and support staff within PHCCs and Baalbek Governmental Hospital (BGH)

• Assist with the translation of:

• Medical and administrative forms
• Patient education and health promotion materials
• Reports, guidelines, and other official documents as required

• Provide interpretation support across multiple departments, including:

• Emergency room
• Pediatric inpatient wards (PICU and Pediatric floor)
• Pharmacy services, when needed
• Provide interpretation during outreach clinics (Outpatient in the PHCCs and MMUs), particularly in remote or underserved areas.

• Maintain strict confidentiality during meetings and consultations involving:

• Expatriate staff
• National staff
• Patients for any medical, administrative, or operational purpose.

Knowledge: Essential: Intermediate to Advanced computer literacy using MS-office applications (MS-Word, MS-Outlook, MS-Excel)
