Accountabilities:
- Ensuring the implementation and continuity of antenatal and postnatal care, family planning, obstetrical care (BEmONC 1 and CEmONC 2), neonatal and comprehensive abortion care, management of victims of sexual violence, reproductive tract infections and Fistula care in accordance with MSF Reproductive Core Package of Activities and reinforce the implementation of standardised protocols.
- Where PMTCT is implemented, ensuring implementation of the PMTCT protocol in the ANC/delivery and PNC consultations (pre counselling, test and post counselling
- Collaborating with the medical doctor and /or nurse in the management of Sexual Violence cases
- Assessing the feasibility for referral of pregnant women form the TBAs to the OPD/MCH for medical evaluation and/or complicated deliveries.
- Ensuring hygiene and sterilization criteria (including universal precautions) are met according to MSF specifications.
- Performing cleaning and minor maintenance for biomedical equipment used. Following the user manual and protocols and alert supervisor in case of malfunctioning.
- Guaranteeing a regular and ongoing supply of drugs and equipment required for maternity activities (including monitoring/consumption control/ordering of orders.
- Properly following up all newborn babies from delivery until discharge, informing mothers and relatives about importance of breast feeding, vaccination and possible complications resulting from harmful traditional practices.

- Supervising that administrative procedures of admissions and hospitalizations comply with MSF protocols , as well as verify patients are properly informed and receive the documents required (birth certificate, vaccination card, etc
- Participatingin the organisation of the ward in collaboration with other midwifes and the maternity ward supervisor. Ensure transfer of relevant information to the next shift team (specially identifying risk cases)
Context specific Accountabilites:
- Provide high-quality ANC and PNC consultations within MMU, following MSF reproductive health protocols, including screening for maternal danger signs, nutritional assessment, foetal well-being and counselling on healthy pregnancy practices.
- Deliver confidential and patient-centred family planning counselling and services, ensuring informed choice, respect for autonomy and correct use of available methods, while supporting follow-up of side effects and adherence.
- Conduct SRH consultations for women and adolescent girls, including screening for reproductive tract infections (RTIs), counselling on hygiene, menstrual health and preventive practices, and refer complicated cases to higher-level facilities.
- Ensure early identification, stabilization and prompt referral of pregnant women at risk or showing danger signs (e.g., pre-eclampsia symptoms, infections, bleeding, reduced foetal movement) according to project referral pathways.
- Promote exclusive breastfeeding, newborn care counselling, maternal nutrition and psychosocial support for new mothers during postnatal follow-up in the community/Health facility.
- Maintain strict adherence to Infection Prevention and Control (IPC) and universal hygiene standards during MMU activities, including safe instrument handling, waste management and environmental cleanliness.
- Ensure respectful, culturally-sensitive care at all times, upholding privacy and confidentiality, with particular attention to adolescent SRH needs and protection risks.
- Support safe management of basic medical equipment used during consultations (foetal Dopplers, BP machines, scales), performing minor cleaning and maintenance and reporting malfunctions promptly.
- Conduct routine screening for gender-based violence (GBV) risk factors using appropriate MSF tools; provide confidential counselling and refer survivors to designated medical and protection services according to protocol.
- Contribute to rational use and monitoring of SRH-related drugs and commodities (e.g., micronutrients, contraceptives), ensuring adequate stock rotation, expiration checks and timely reporting of shortages.
- Collect and document SRH data accurately (ANC/PNC attendance, FP uptake, danger signs, referrals).
- Deliver maternal health promotion messaging within MMU, focusing on birth preparedness, postpartum warning signs, breastfeeding, family planning and early care-seeking behaviors.
- Participate actively in mobile team coordination to ensure safe patient flow, appropriate triage, privacy, and continuity of women’s follow-up across repeated MMU visits.
Education
- Recognized midwifery degree, diploma, or bachelor’s degree in Midwifery
- Ministry of public health practice license as midwife in Lebanon
- Certificate of registration at the Lebanese order of Midwifes
Experience
Essential working experience of at least two years in midwife activities related jobs.
