Project Title:  Strengthening Mental Health and Psycho-Social Support in Palestinian Camps and Gatherings for Children, Women and Families Affected by the Syria Refugee Crisis   Position: Animation and Facilitation Skills Training – Consultancy contract   Background MAP works for the health and dignity of Palestinians living under occupation and as refugees. In response to the current humanitarian refugee crisis in Lebanon, MAP is currently recruiting a Consultant to assist in designing and delivering PFA training to the staff working in the frame of a Mental Health and Psychosocial Support Project co-funded by UNICEF, and implemented in partnership with four Palestinian NGOs.   The project aims to mitigate the impact of war and displacement and contribute to strengthening resilience, healthy development and positive coping mechanisms among Palestinian refugee women and children from Syria, their families and the host Palestinian community. The project integrates a Gender Based Violence prevention and response component.   Objective of the position: To support MAP with enhancing the capacity of MAP project partners to deliver recreational and structured group-based PSS activities for boys and girls of different ages, and particularly very young children.   Key tasks and responsibilities: Design and deliver four 4-day training workshops covering Soft Skills for Working with Children; Basic Child Development notions and Learn through Play approaches; Animation and Facilitation Skills and Techniques.   By the end of the workshop, participants will learn:   Soft Skills for working children Know how to communicate with children of different ages, with verbal and non verbal clues Know how to set rules and boundaries Understand child behaviors and respond appropriately and positively Understand group dynamics and manage them effectively; Know how to manage conflict among children. Basic Child Development notions and learn-through-play approaches Understand the basic developmental milestones, from early childhood to adolescence Understand the difference between structured and unstructured activities, and the importance of both for child development and psychosocial well-being Understand the importance of different type of activities (creative, imaginative/symbolic, communicative, physical, manipulative/constructive, social/games with rules) for child development and psychosocial well-being Animation and Facilitation Skills and Techniques Know how to organise the physical space to ensure safety and child friendliness, to promote participation and interaction, and to facilitate adult supervision Know how to plan a structured activity, from introduction to conclusion and evaluation Experiment different types of activities for different age groups, including very young children   Person specification A strong commitment to MAP’s goals and core values Extensive experience (minimum 8 years) in designing, conducting and evaluating recreational, educational (informal education) and psychosocial support activities for groups of children, young people and adults Ability to master a wide range of training/facilitation/animation techniques Extensive training/ToT and facilitation experience in relevant domains Extensive experience in field staff supervision and coaching in relevant domains Fluent in Arabic and English, written and spoken
