First Aid & Fire Safety Training Providers – Consultancy

    Job description   Program Title: Strengthening Mental Health and Psycho-Social Support in Palestinian camps and Gatherings for Children, Women and Families Affected by the Syrian Refugee Crisis – Phase II   Position: First Aid & Fire Safety Training Providers – Consultancy   1. Background MAP works for the health and dignity of Palestinians living under occupation and as refugees. In response to the current humanitarian refugee crisis in Lebanon, MAP is currently implementing the project “Strengthening Mental Health and Psycho-Social Support in Palestinian camps and Gatherings for Children, Women and Families Affected by the Syrian Refugee Crisis – Phase II”. The project is managed in partnership with four Palestinian NGOs, and it is co-funded by UNICEF; it aims to mitigate the impact of war and displacement and contribute to strengthening resilience and positive coping mechanisms among Palestinian refugee women and children from Syria, their families and the host Palestinian communities. The project integrates a Gender Based Violence prevention and response component.   2. Objective of the consultancy: The main objective of the consultancy is to deliver First Aid and Fire Safety training in different locations to support MAP partners’ field staff to improve safety of children and other beneficiaries attending activities in partners’ community centers and/or other venues.   The training providers interested should be able to delivery one or both the training above mentioned.   The training provider(s) selected will delivery two different training cycles covering the following topics:   The First Aid training: Prevention of major incidents/Safe Practices Burns Suffocation Wounds Content and use of First Aid Kit Practical part: exercise different kind of possible interventions   The Fire Safety training: Prevention of fire in general Safe practices for Fire Safety in community centers (including the proper localization and maintenance of safe tools) Types of fire and types of fire extinguishers Practical part: how to use fire extinguishers, how to control fire in closed spaces (rooms/stairs) or control fire erupted in gas cylinder/cooking gas, etc.         The training should be conducted in 1 or 2 sessions (if necessary); each session should be last maximum 7 hours (i.e.: from 9:00 am to 4:00 pm.). The maximum number of trainees will be 20 per session.   3. Location and timeframe: Location: The training should be delivered in a way to cover four regions and should be conducted in the following five locations: Tripoli (North), Chtoura (Beqaa), Beirut (Mt. Lebanon), Sidon and Tyre (South). Timeframe: MAP is expecting to organize the two training in January 2016. Different availabilities will be taken in consideration, but in case of similar offers, it will be given priority to those providers available in January.   4. Key tasks: Under the direct supervision of MAP’s team. Identify and suggest other possible relevant topics for the training Prepare a pre and post-test for the training Prepare the training agenda and material Facilitate/deliver training sessions in Arabic   5. Required skills and technical capacities: Five or more years’ experience in Fire Safety/Fighting and/or First Aid and with related tools Five years of experience in conducting similar trainings Fluency in Arabic language Availability and readiness to travel to above-mentioned locations Ability to work in close coordination with other team members Be certificated and legally authorized to conduct similar trainings, highly desirable Previous experience of working with NGOs and INGOs, highly desirable Ability of providing adequate venues for possible practical exercises, a strong asset Ability to provide official certificates for First Aid trainees, preferable     6. Deliverables: Draft training agenda covering theoretical and practical parts has to be provided for review and possible integration (if necessary) 2 weeks in advance the 1st training cycle A copy of training material (presentations, texts/documents, references) has to be provided in advance 2 weeks in advance the 1st training cycle Final agenda of the training has to be provided for final review at least 1 week in advance the 1st training cycle Narrative report covering the days of the training At moment of training, providers have to be able to provide tools necessary for practical exercises (training fire extinguisher, training gas cylinder, training cooking gas, training dummies for first aid training, etc.)   7.
