Project Coordinator

Program Title:  Strengthening mental health and psycho-social support in Palestinian camps and gatherings for children, women and families affected by the Syrian refugee crisis  1.Background MAP works for the health and dignity of Palestinians living under occupation and as refugees. In response to the current humanitarian refugee crisis in Lebanon, MAP is currently recruiting a program coordinator to oversee the implementation of a project in partnership with UNRWA and several international and local NGOs. The program aims to mitigate the impact of war and displacement and contribute to strengthening resilience, healthy development and positive coping mechanisms among Palestinian refugee women and children from Syria, their families and the host Palestinian community. The program integrates a Gender Based Violence prevention and response component. 2. Objective of the position: To ensure timely and effective delivery of  the project, in line with MAP and donor’s standards and guidelines, and with program’s Key Performance Indicators. 3. Key tasks and responsibilities:  The Project Coordinator will work under the supervision of MAP’s Director of Programmes in Lebanon, to whom he/she will report. • Coordinate/oversee the implementation of the project. • Ensure timely execution of project activities. • Ensure timely delivery of expected project outputs and outcomes. • Regularly communicate, coordinate with and support all implementing partners. • Ensure timely preparation and submission of narrative project reports as per donor requirements. • With the support of technical consultants, ensure that good quality MHPSS standards are met in project implementation • Ensure integration of child protection standards in implementation. • Facilitate communication, coordination and networking among all project partners and with other MHPSS stakeholders • Support other tasks within MAP’s emergency response program as needed. 4.Person specifications • Strong work ethics and commitment to MAP’s goals and values. • At least 5 years’ experience in project coordination/project management roles, preferably in the area of MHPSS and/or GBV prevention and response. • Prior work experience in Lebanon is required. • Demonstrable experience of psychosocial work. • Demonstrable experience of partnership work and support to local NGOs. • Previous experience of emergency response projects is an asset. • Excellent organizational/coordination skills. • Excellent communication and networking skills. • Goal-oriented; attention to detail with strong follow up. • Team oriented, with ability to work efficiently independently. • Flexible and responsive to program challenges, with willingness to take on additional tasks as needed. • Proficiency in English (with strong report writing skills in English); fluency in Arabic is an asset. • Proficient in Ms Office - word processing, spread sheets, etc. • Driving license/ability to drive in Lebanon desirable.
