Staff Care Facilitator – Consultancy

Program Title: Strengthening Mental Health and Psycho-Social Support in Palestinian camps and Gatherings for Children, Women and Families Affected by the Syrian Refugee Crisis – Phase II   Position: Staff Care Facilitator – Consultancy   1. Background MAP works for the health and dignity of Palestinians living under occupation and as refugees. In response to the current humanitarian refugee crisis in Lebanon, MAP is currently implementing the project “Strengthening Mental Health and Psycho-Social Support in Palestinian camps and Gatherings for Children, Women and Families Affected by the Syrian Refugee Crisis – Phase II”. The project is managed in partnership with four Palestinian NGOs, and it is co-funded by UNICEF; it aims to mitigate the impact of war and displacement and contribute to strengthening resilience and positive coping mechanisms among Palestinian refugee women and children from Syria, their families and the host Palestinian community. The project integrates a Gender Based Violence prevention and response component.   Within the framework of this intervention, MAP is currently recruiting a Staff Care Consultant to contribute to developing and implementing an overall staff care framework and action plan. The consultant will be responsible for providing strategic inputs, as well as for conducting specific sets of activities, mainly team building workshops with MAP partners’ staff and management.   2. Objective of the position: To support MAP partners’ field staff with dealing with accumulated stress, by improving and/or developing suitable team copying mechanisms.   3. Location, time-frame and duration: The consultancy will cover major Palestinian refugee camps and gatherings in Lebanon in four regions: North, Beqa’a, Beirut and South (Tyre and Sidon). The Consultant should be willing and able to travel to various locations within Lebanon, including the Palestinian refugee camps and gatherings. Transportation may not be provided.   The consultancy will be conducted over next three months, approximatively from mid-February to mid-May 2016; whilst calendar and action plan will be developed in collaboration with MAP and Partners. The Consultant should be willing and able to commit to this task about 5/10 days (in total); depending on the plan developed, additional days could be added.     4. Key tasks and responsibilities: The Staff Care Consultant will contribute to developing and implementing a staff care framework and action plan in support to MAP’s Partners implementing MHPSS activities in Palestinian refugee camps and gatherings. The consultant will be responsible for providing strategic inputs, as well as for conducting specific sets of activities, mainly team building workshops with MAP partners’ staff and management.   5. Person specifications Master’s Degree in Psychology or related subjects; Demonstrable, extensive experience of MHPSS programming in a humanitarian context; Demonstrable, extensive previous experience (minimum 8 years) in formulating and implementing staff care and team building strategic and operational frameworks and activities; Previous experience of field work within the Palestinian refugee community in Lebanon; Strong proficiency in spoken and written Arabic; proficiency in English highly desirable; Driving license and ability to drive in Lebanon.   6.
