Job Summary
This Zahle based position contributes to the mission of the organization by improving the care, prevention, and health education of chronic non-communicable diseases for Syrian refugees in 85 informal settlements (IS) in the central Bekaa valley.
RESPONSIBILITIES
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
Attend training sessions and capacity building workshops provided by MTI and other INGOs.
Organize the behavioral change sessions foreseen by the organization.
Promote basic health education and promotion to refugees on health topics including NCD, pneumonia, skin diseases, yeast infection, and diarrhea.
Train, supervise and support ROVs to conduct outreach visits in the community (home visits).
Train ROVs on the use of medical equipment (stethoscopes, BP cuffs, and glucometers) to monitor NCD patients.
Facilitate the referral of patients to designated PHCs
Attend meetings recommended by country manager.
Essential Minimum Qualifications Required:
University degree in public health, nursing, or any other related field
Minimum 1-2 years professional experience
Familiarity with chronic diseases (diabetes, hypertension, chronic respiratory disease)
Sensitivity to the needs of refugee beneficiaries
Ability to work within a team and exhibit good communication efforts
Strong attention to detail and report writing skills
Skills in facilitating health education sessions
Proficiency in computer applications: Excel, Word, Email
Understand the mission of Medical Teams International
Desired Qualifications:
Excellent English language skills; knowledge of French is a plus
Prior international organizational experience is preferred
Should be quick in understanding, keen on taking instructions, and able to work with minimum supervision
