Digital Journalist

Role and Responsibilities

• Daily monitoring and vetting of local news
• Fact-checking and cross-checking information.
• Writing and publishing multiple news stories on a daily basis
• Coming up with fresh, sharp angles on daily news that offer additional insights and perspectives to readers in line with Megaphone's editorial line.
• Reporting news as necessary, on tight deadlines
• Conducting phone and live interviews
• Coordinating daily production efforts (drafting, translation, design, publishing, and dissemination)
• Conducting research and writing video scripts
• Contributing to developing new formats adapting to daily and weekly news coverage
• Copy editing of social media promotional content

Required Qualifications

• Bachelor or master’s degree in journalism, media studies, political studies, economics, sociology, or any other social science or humanity.
• Excellent writing and speaking skills in both Arabic and English
• Great project coordination skills
• Experience in teamwork and working under pressure
• Knowledge of digital media
• Experience in copy editing
• Additional Qualifications
• Fluency in French is desirable
• 2 to 3 years of experience in working in a newsroom is desirable
• Creative writing skills is a plus
• Proficiency in Google ecosystem, Trello and, adobe creative suite is a plus
