Job Overview
Megaphone is seeking a Senior Video Editor to lead the post-production process of our video output and elevate our storytelling through editing.
This is a senior creative role centered on editorial construction through montage. The Senior Video Editor will not merely assemble footage, but actively shape the narrative, rhythm, tone, and meaning of each video — contributing to what is often referred to as the “third meaning”: the added layer of interpretation created through sequencing, juxtaposition, pacing, and visual argument.
The role requires speed, precision, and strong editorial judgment. The Senior Video Editor will work on weekly and daily productions including explainers, short news reports, investigations, interviews, and special formats — ensuring high output without compromising narrative coherence or visual rigor.
The Senior Video Editor will collaborate closely with journalists, scriptwriters, designers, and the editorial leadership. They are expected to contribute editorial insights during production, suggest structural improvements, and refine scripts during the editing phase when needed.
Remaining informed about emerging trends in digital video storytelling, platform optimization (Instagram, YouTube, TikTok), and audience engagement is essential. The editor will also contribute to format development and R&D exercises aimed at strengthening Megaphone’s visual identity.
Occasionally, the Senior Video Editor may lead the post-production of special projects (documentaries, long-form investigations, co-productions).
Given the fast-paced nature of news production, the role requires the ability to handle urgent edits under tight deadlines (time off in-lieu days will be granted when applicable).
The Senior Video Editor reports directly to the Editor-in-Chief and the Creative Director.
