Social Media Team Leader

Role Overview

As Social Media Team Leader, you will oversee Megaphone’s multi-platform presence and lead the publishing and distribution team. You’ll align publishing schedules with editorial priorities and grow audience engagement. You’ll work closely with editorial and design teams to optimize our content formats on each of Megaphone's publishing platforms.

Key Responsibilities
 

Team Leadership & Coordination

• Manage and mentor the publishing and distribution team.
• Set weekly tasks and quarterly objectives and ensure timelines are met.
• Coordinate with editorial and design teams to align strategy and publishing.

Strategic Development & Optimization

• Develop and update platform-specific strategies (Instagram, TikTok, X, YouTube, Facebook and WhatsApp).
• Track trends and optimize tone, formats, and timing for each platform.

Analytics & Reporting

• Monitor performance across platforms using analytics tools and dashboards.
• Translate data into actionable insights and reporting.

Protocol Development & Capacity Building

• Develop publishing protocols (e.g. publishing, community management, moderation etc).
• Train and onboard team members.

Editorial Advising

• Provide feedback to the editorial and design team on formats, headlines, and visuals based on platform specificities (such as algorithmic guidelines) .
• Flag urgent trends or opportunities for rapid reaction.

Promotion & Budget Management

• Oversee paid promotions and audience targeting.
• Manage the social media advertising budget and measure ad performance.

Requirements

• Minimum 5 years of experience in marketing, communications, or social media management.
• Proven ability to lead teams and manage content calendars across multiple platforms.
• Deep understanding of platform algorithms, engagement tactics, and content formats.
• Political knowledge and familiarity with the local and regional context 
• Strong analytical skills and familiarity with social media insights, analytics and dashboards.
• Experience in ad budgeting and campaign optimization.
• Excellent communication and project coordination skills.
