Mentor Arabia Background
Mentor Arabia is a regional non-governmental Foundation; which advocates for drug prevention among Arab youth and children, founded in 2006 in Dubai, UAE, with its headquarters established in Beirut, Lebanon
Mentor Arabia is the regional branch of Mentor International, founded in 1994, registered in Switzerland and based in London – UK and headed by her Majesty Queen Silvia of Sweden.
The foundation is led by its Board of Trustees, chaired by Prince Turki Bin Talal Bin Abdul Aziz Al Saud and consists of a range of high profile personalities from the region. It includes representatives from esteemed organizations such as the league Of Arab states, the United Nations Office on Drugs & Crime (UNODC), Mentor International, in addition to its committees that consist of youth, celebrities and specialists in the field.
Our work spreads across 22 Arab countries, defined as members of the Arab League.
Mentor is inviting candidates to apply for the Trainer vacancy to support its activities.
Scope of Work
Review Mentor Arabia manuals and training curriculas on youth empowerment and prevention from risky behaviors and drugs to be able to incorporate these documents into regional trainings and workshops
Organize and facilitate, in cooperation with Mentor Arabia, regional and national training workshops to enhance capacity and promote effective responses against risky behaviors; and
Advise Mentor Arabia regarding the development of awareness raising and prevention programmes and material
Expected Outputs and Deliverables
Develop interactive regional training modules and material aimed at enhancing the capacities of different beneficiaries and stakeholders to respond effectively to policies and initiatives against risky behaviors
Assist in the identification of co- trainers, training venue and trainees
Adapt the regional training manuals and materials to the national context to be able to meet the local needs
Prepare comprehensive reports on the outcomes of, and responses from, the participants attending the various regional and national training workshops
Assist in creating a roaster of national and regional trainers on issues related to children and youth empowerment towards prevention from risky behaviors and drugs
Qualifications
Advanced university degree in social sciences, public health, NGO development and/or any other related field
At least 10 years relevant and professional experience in trainings with regard to social science, youth empowerment, public health, life skills, human rights and/or community policing and/or any related fields
Knowledge of the socio-economical and geo-political drivers in the Arab States will be highly desirable
Proven quantitative and qualitative research and drafting skills
Proven experience in the development of training curricula and materials
Proven ability and experience in leading and facilitating training workshops on multidisciplinary and multicultural teams
Multidisciplinary skills and the ability to communicate effectively
Ability to work both independently and as part of a team
Sensitivity to regional political, gender and cultural balance
A high standard of professionalism
Ability to engage in regional travel
Fluency in English and Arabic (written and spoken); French is an asset
