Background: Mercy Corps exists to alleviate suffering, poverty, and oppression by helping people build secure, productive, and just communities. Mercy Corps has been present in the Middle East since the 1980s and currently has offices in Yemen, Lebanon, Palestine, Jordan, Syria, and Iraq. Mercy Corps is a global humanitarian and development organization working in more than 40 countries around the world. The Mercy Corps Finance Sub grants Department is responsible for all financial functions including payments budgeting, financial reporting, and grant financial management and compliance. Mercy Corps Finance Department ensures compliance with donor regulations as well as Mercy Corps’ internal policies and procedures. In its role as a support to the Program Department, the Finance Department provides timely reports and assistance to the Humanitarian Director and the Program team to ensure that financial resources are used efficiently and effectively. The Finance Department keeps full documentation and records in case of future audit. Purpose of the Training: As part of the training schedule/program, the trainee will have to complete or insight within the following processes: .Help in reconciliation procedures for activities reported in the Financial/Progress reports between Finance and .Program team .Review of MC Subgrant files, ensuring completeness and compliance with standard filing procedures to prepare for future audits. .Assist in tracking payments and contracts as needed .Assist Finance Officers in reviewing financial reports or other tasks as time permits. Learning Objectives: .Understand the internal and external financial reporting and documentation procedure .Experience the NGO Finance office environment .Learn the process to close subgrant and financial reports files.
