We currently work in the following sectors:  Water, Sanitation and Hygiene (WASH), Youth and Protection, Governance and Social Stability, Economic Opportunities.  Mercy Corps Lebanon currently has nine active programs in these domains. In order to provide support to program teams, the Performance and Quality Unit (PAQ) was created.  This unit contains the monitoring, evaluation and learning advisor, an information and accountability manager, a communications coordinator, and a reporting coordinator, as well as the Performance and Quality Manager.  One of the key functions of this unit is the development of efficient and effective program management processes, coordination of key functions such as program reporting and proposal development, providing support to programs during key implementation moments, checking in on program quality and impact through a variety of different techniques, as well as providing support for internal and external communications.   Internal and external communication plays a key role in improving program performance, by improving team cohesion, strengthening understanding of Mercy Corps programming with key stakeholders, enabling us to effectively communicate on program successes and challenges, carry out advocacy on key issues, as well as providing visibility on MC activities. Overview of the Internship The videography and photography intern will participate in the activities of videography and photography production for both Mercy Corps Lebanon and for specific Mercy Corps’ programs.  S/he will be part of the Program Performance and Quality Unit, and will provide video material support and photographs to enable MC Lebanon to communicate effectively on program successes and challenges, as well as to ensure Mercy Corps’ branding exposure.   The intern is part director, part sound man, part editor, part photographer. S/he will shoot footage and assist in editing whenever it is needed. S/he will accomplish the bulk of the technical tasks related to production and post-production. Additionally, s/he will set-up and operate equipment, and assist with staging and set preparation (as required). The intern will work closely with the communications coordinator to execute the concept through to completion. Learning Objectives:   The internship will provide an opportunity to learn more about how communications plays a key role in the development and humanitarian sector, not just to improve agency visibility but also to improve program quality by increasing our capacity to communicate effectively with stakeholders, as well as hands-on experience of working with an NGO to develop videography and photography to support Mercy Corps internal and external communication strategy.    This will provide the intern with the opportunity to gain more experience in managing the entire process of video production – from reception of a brief, to development of a video concept and gaining approvals, to shooting and editing the videos, getting the appropriate reviews and integrating feedback, and disseminating the videos. Activities Create short video concepts, based on briefs provided by the Communication Coordinator, and get necessary approvals to move to development of the video Produce, and film video content, including set up and placing of lighting and audio equipment Review the raw footage and other shots and edit as required Generate and insert on-screen text (translation, etc..) & graphics Ensure high quality sound on videos which are produced Organize review process of initial video with communication coordinator and program teams, and integrate feedback into a modified version of the concept Encoding & delivering for Web, DVD, social media channels or broadcast (if needed) Set-up and capture great photographs to fulfil the brief Ensure all photographs and videos produced are filed on MC Lebanon electronic filing system Respect Mercy Corps’ Brand guidelines and ensure brand representation and interpretation EDUCATIONAL LEVEL 3rd year audiovisual major or graduate IDEAL CANDIDATE SHOULD POSSESS THE FOLLOWING SKILLS: Previous experience with professional videography and photography Previous experience with NGOs is a plus Computer skills:  Knowledge of Adobe Premiere Pro, Photoshop is a must, knowledge of Illustrator and After effects is a plus Knowledge of YouTube, Facebook, Vimeo and any other video media, is a must Creativeness and artistic ability Analytical thinking Good time management and work planning skills to enable on time delivery Good teamwork and ability to communicate with a diverse range of people Good communication skills Ability to work independently and as part of a team Fluent Arabic and English (written and spoken) is essential, French is an advantage
