Community Health Worker (Tripoli Area)

Job Purpose

The Community Health Worker (CHW) will be in direct contact with the beneficiaries covered under this program as well as with the contracted primary healthcare centers’ focal points. The CHW will assess the vulnerability of Children under 5 and Pregnant Lactating Women. He/she will also refer them to the nearest assigned healthcare facilities that can give them the specific care and help needed.

 

Responsibilities

  • Conduct door-to-door visits on a daily basis to identify and engage the targeted communities in Tripoli Area
  • Coordinate with local authorities and all related stakeholders to explain the project's objectives, services provided, and the list of Primary healthcare centers supported under the project to increase the community's sensitization towards the project
  • Identify malnutrition cases (SAM and MAM) through screening of targeted beneficiaries (Pregnant Lactating Women and Children Under 5 years old) for potential malnutrition according to the provided checklist
  • Regularly report all challenges encountered to the  Area Coordinator
  • Ensure that safe identification and referrals are done with transparency, confidentiality, and efficiency to meet the needs and provide access to needed services
  • Communicate on the spot all malnutrition referrals with the Area Coordinator
  • Directly liaise and coordinate the malnutrition referrals with the selected PHCs focal points
  • Data collection, mapping, data entry, and reporting 
  • Ensure transparent, accurate, and timely collection of quantitative and qualitative data and information
  • Filling the data accurately including all notes collected from the field using kobo/papers forms
  • Provide daily reports to the Area Coordinator on the progress of the implementation of the outreach activities and on relevant observations during the mission
  • Communicate any issues encountered during data collection immediately to the Area Coordinator
  • Ensure data protection and confidentiality

 

Minimum Hiring Requirements 

  • A university degree in Public Health, Nutrition, Laboratory, Biochemistry, Social & Behavioral Sciences, Pharmacy, Psychology, or any related medical/health field
  • At least 1 year of experience in the health/nutrition sector
  • INGO/NGO experience is preferable.
  • Experience in working with refugees, vulnerable Lebanese, and migrant communities is desirable
  • Previous experience working for a humanitarian organization and/or work experience in data collection is desirable
  • Demonstrate a high level of cultural sensitivity, professionalism, politeness, and objectivity when dealing with the beneficiaries under all circumstances
  • High ability to adapt to field setting; motivation to work in a challenging environment requiring personal flexibility
  • Time management and the ability to meet deadlines
  • Good command of the English language
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications, Google drive tools, and Kobo collect
