Nutritionist Supervisor

Job Purpose

The Nutritionist Supervisor will be in direct contact with the supported PHCs. She/he will be overseeing the routine malnutrition screening of Pregnant and Lactating Women (PLW) as well as Children Under Five (CU5). In addition, the Nutritionist Supervisor will be tightly following up on the right implementation of acute malnutrition treatment program within the supported PHCs.

 

Responsibilities

  • Follow-up on a daily basis with the PHCs and beneficiaries (caregivers of children under 5 and PLWs) to ensure proper admission, follow-up, treatment of acute malnutrition program, and prevention of defaulter cases using the online CMAM Tracking Tool
  • Regular follow-up with the PHCs to respond to any shortage of treatment supplies and micronutrient supplements
  • Regular follow-up with the PHCs to ensure the correct implementation of the referral process (internal referrals and screening PHC to treatment PHC)
  • Respond to any enquiries raised by the PHC staff to ensure smooth and correct implementation of the project activities
  • Support the MEAL department in conducting regular PHC visits to supervise the performance of the PHC staff in terms of nutritional screening, IYCF counseling, referrals, treatment of malnourished cases, reporting, and providing guidance as needed.
  • Follow up regularly with the PHCs to ensure clean reporting and timely data submission in close collaboration with the IMO
  • Coordinate with the MoPH-PHC coordinators to ensure optimal implementation of the program
  • Report any challenges encountered to the Project Officer
  • Coordinate with the PHC staff the regular organization of IYCF sessions delivered to pregnant, lactating, and caregivers of children under 2
  • Conducting orientation sessions to IYCF Counselors (on PHC and Community levels) on data collection and IYCF

 

Minimum Hiring Requirements 

  • A university degree in Nutrition, Midwifery, Food Science or any other related field
  • Minimum of 2 years experience in the Health/Nutrition sector 
  • Previous experience in malnutrition programs (Management of acute malnutrition among Children Under 5 years and PLWs) is desirable
  • INGO/NGO experience is preferable
  • Good report writing skills
  • Management skills
  • Organization skills, including time management and the ability to meet deadlines
  • Excellent communication, interpersonal, and presentational skills
  • Excellent command of the English language
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications (Outlook, Word, Powerpoint, Excel), Google drive tools, and Kobo collect
