Project Officer

The project officer manages and supports all activities pertaining to the project and is expected to monitor the project activities on a regular basis as well as provide daily project execution oversight and support. 

 

Main Responsibilities

  • Manage and oversee the health project in order to meet the project’s objectives within budget and within the project’s time
  • Continuously monitor and supervise health activities, evaluating progress through outputs and impacts using quantitative & qualitative data,
  • Provide strong leadership of the assigned health project, working to ensure both short and long-term positive impacts and outcomes for the beneficiaries
  • Involve the health team in data analysis and taking action to ensure continued progress
  • Report promptly any operational concerns to line manager
  • Draft project related documentation including the preparation of agreements, amendments to agreements, SOPs, and any relevant supporting documents.
  • Deal with the day-to-day planning and constantly update the implementation plan of the project and the resources needed
  • Support the coordination and implementation of all assigned project activities as outlined in the detailed implementation plan
  • Regularly prepare and share the schedule of the visits with the project’s team.
  • Hold and attend meetings with the relevant staff and stakeholders as well as donor as necessary
  • Regularly attend the Health Working Group and contribute to the discussion 
  • Keep close and effective coordination and communication with the project’s stakeholders and partners to maintain the smooth execution of project activities
  • Participate in staff recruitment, orientation, and guidance at the start of the project and throughout the implementation period as needed.
  • Ensure quality data is maintained by ensuring proper reporting, documentation and filing system are in place.
  • Monitor and report any challenges and/or gaps identified to inform adjustments to plans and implementation schedules.
  • Keep ongoing coordination with other departments in the organization such as the finance and logistics departments.
  • Support in the preparation, design, and implementation of all data collection activities including online tracking sheets, monitoring visits, and other similar activities to use as lessons learned and to support in the design of new programs.
  • Produce periodic project progress reports as requested by the Program and Communication Manager.
  • Support in tracking project performance, specifically to analyze the successful completion of short and long-term goals.
  • Provide approval to the hospital for urgent admission of beneficiaries.
  • Approve the supporting documents sent by the hospitals before processing any payment.
  • Follow up on the payment processing to the hospitals.
  • Perform other duties as required by the Line Manager.

 

Minimum Hiring Requirements 

  • A university degree (Master's degree) in management, public health, or any relevant field.
  • At least 2 years of relevant experience in a similar position (support to project management, implementation of programs) with a Non-Governmental organization.
  • At least one year of experience in the Health sector.
  • Excellent command of the English language. 
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications, including Word, Excel, Outlook, and PowerPoint.
  • Personal and organizational skills, including time management and the ability to meet deadlines.
  • Good communication and reporting skills.
  • Strong relationship skills and the ability to work effectively with local stakeholders.
  • Proactive, detailed-oriented, and service-oriented.
