Senior Distribution Officer (Akkar & North Lebanon) - Ref #528

Job Purpose

Mercy-USA is looking for a full-time Senior Distribution Officer to lead the distribution of a large-scale Basic Assistance, Food Security and Nutrition Project in Akkar.

This position requires candidates to be based in the North or Akkar areas.

 

Responsibilities

  • Develop a comprehensive distribution plan prior to the initiation of monthly activities, both in-kind and cash-based assistance, and oversee day-to-day operations. 
  • Manage distribution sites to ensure safe, efficient, and organized assistance distribution.
  • Ensure accurate and timely processing of beneficiaries' assistance redemption.
  • Conduct thorough verification and validation of beneficiaries before dispensing assistance, and promptly report suspected, duplicate and protection cases to the WFP North Field Office.
  • Address requests, complaints, and feedback from beneficiaries, coordinating with the WFP North Field Office. 
  • Plan and execute door-to-door distribution for a limited number of individuals. 
  • Foster communication channels with key stakeholders and partners.
  • Liaise with distribution site owners and Social Development Centers (SDCs) to maintain parameters related to individuals with special needs and implement appropriate protection measures. 
  • Coordinate closely and collaborate effectively with Mercy USA logistics, nutrition, monitoring and evaluating and protection teams.
  • Train and capacity build the distribution team and volunteers to ensure successful implementation of activities.
  •  Provide leadership and supervision to the distribution team, ensuring effective allocation of roles and responsibilities.
  • Prepare and submit daily reports on site operations, and contribute to the development of monthly narrative reports.
  • Maintain all necessary documentation including attendance sheets, waybills, and other relevant records. 
  • Ensure proper and timely dissemination of monthly communication messages (SMS) to beneficiaries.
  • Participate in trainings, monthly meetings and development programs as required.
  • Develop movement plans for the distribution team. 
  • Ensure compliance with SOPs and Mercy USA internal policies and regulations.
  • Represent and promote the visibility of both WFP and Mercy USA at all distribution sites.

Minimum Hiring Requirements 

  • High School diploma or higher.
  • At least 4 years of relevant experience.
  • INGO/NGO experience is an added value.
  • Knowledge/familiarity with the area of operations.
  • Proven experience with projects of similar size and scope.
  • Good command (verbal and written) of English.
  • Fluency in Arabic is a must.
  • Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite. 
  • High level of communication, presentation and networking skills.
  • Previous Experience in managing projects including Monitoring and Evaluation and/or Nutrition is preferable.
