Job Purpose
To carry out Minefield, or Battle Area Clearance according to his/her accreditation under supervision in accordance with the MAG Lebanon Standard Operating Procedures and Lebanon National Mine Action Standards in order to ensure safe, efficient and effective operational activities.
Principal Responsibilities
- Responsible for conducting safe and correct clearance as directed by the HMA TL and in accordance with (accreditation) training provided, MAG Lebanon Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs), Technical Notes or requests by the HMA TL and other international standards and guidelines.
- Accept responsibility for his/ her own safety and act in a disciplined way at all times at a task site.
- Accept responsibility for the safety of others around him/ her.
- Report, incidents, accidents and near misses to the HMA Team Leader and HMA Site Supervisor.
- Maintain accountability for their personal tools and equipment by ensuring they are in a clean, operational condition and that all items are properly inventoried.
- Ensure the timely reporting of faulty equipments.
- Work according to all procedures as documented in MAG SOPs and Lebanon NMAS.
- Report all daily clearance progress to the HMA Team leader and HMA Site supervisor.
- Work efficiently to achieve team productivity.
- Immediately notify the HMA Team Leader and HMA Site Supervisor of any unsafe working actions and conditions without delay.
- Follow instructions given by the HMA Team Leader/ Mechanical Team Leader and HMA Site Supervisor.
- Follow instructions given by the Team Leader and Site Supervisor.
- Ensure that his/ her PPE’s are in good condition and is regularly cleaned and checked for faults and losses.
- Accountable for maintaining competency in their roles and must actively participate in and complete all trainings provided by MAG.
Some Deminers can be identified as driver of the team (main or spare driver), in such cases the Deminer will be responsible of the following:
- Check the vehicle assigned and belonging tools and equipment, based on the daily checklist.
- Check there are no obvious faults with the vehicle, and report any defects to the Mechanical Manager and the HMA SS through a written report.
- Monitor vehicle’s service card and report when service is due.
- Handle the vehicle to the workshop team, and receive it when service or repairs are done.
- Ensure the spare tire and spare kit are in good condition.
- Record details of journeys in the log sheet/ book provided in each vehicle.
- Ensure that all fuel and oil transactions, including oil change records, are recorded in the provided log sheet or book.
- Keep the vehicle radio operational at all times during working hours and maintain a listening watch by actively monitoring it while inside the vehicle for any incoming messages and information.
- Keep vehicles clean inside and out, wash as required.
- Report any accident/ incident immediately, or as soon as possible, to the MAG Ops Room and Fleet focal point.
- Observe all national driving laws, and speed limits.
- Take responsibility of accidents or damage if they are a result of a human failure, through disciplinary actions or paying for the caused damage.
- Attend meetings and brief training sessions related to driving materials.
- Ensure personal and passengers safety measures, (seatbelts…).
GENERAL
All MAG staff is expected to undertake the following general duties:

- Undertake any other duties appropriate to the post as may be required.

- Undertake and apply learning from appropriate training and development programmes.
- Understand and uphold the standards outlined in MAG’s Safeguarding Framework, acting with due care and attention to safeguard the wellbeing of anyone that comes into contact with MAG’s work and reporting concerns if they do arise.
