Detector Technician

The job entails evaluating, training, and executing all functions related to detection systems for MAG Lebanon HMA operations, adhering to Standard Operating Procedures and TMEU requirements. Additionally, it involves maintaining mine detection equipments and field equipments like radios and repeaters, ensuring timely and high-quality ongoing maintenance.

 

Principal Responsibilities

  • Assist QM Manager in daily tasks related to detectors and radio communication systems including software, accessories, spare parts, maintenance, service and repairs.
  • Assist in assessments on new detection equipments, technologies and methods.
  • Provide instructions on new detection equipments, technologies and methods.
  • Assist logistics when new detection equipment arrives to ensure the delivery is complete and all equipment parts are present.
  • Adjust web interface setting on team’s detectors when teams change sites, encounter differing soil conditions, differing contamination conditions or encountering new ERW’s.
  • Drive TMEU vehicles as required.
  • Assist Teams on detector drills and soil compensation as required.
  • Trouble shoot on detector issues recommending changes, retraining or dispatch for repair.
  • Test all the mine detection equipment and Vertex radios for improvement, safety, and quality control.
  • Diagnose problems of mine detection equipment and Vertex radio’s and come up with solutions to repair them.
  • Perform repair and maintenance of all detectors (F3 - VMH 4 and VMX10) detection equipment.
  • Assist QM Manager to keep a record of all mine detection equipment within the program.
  • Assist QM Manager to fill out detailed reports of mine detection equipment and keep records on services that have been performed.
  • Responsible for all the materials, parts and tools entrusted.
  • Plan and requests detector spare parts as and when necessary.
  • Good knowledge and experience of monitoring and evaluation (M & E)

Essential Requirements:

  1. Valid driving license.
  2. Basic computer operational skills including ability to use excel and inventory systems.
  3. Attention to details.
  4. knowledge of landmines and Unexploded Ordnance (UXO) prevalent in the country.

GENERAL

  • Able to work in a mixed team.
  • Undertake and apply learning from appropriate training and development programmes.
  • Understand and uphold the standards outlined in MAG’s Safeguarding Framework, acting with due care and attention to safeguard the wellbeing of anyone that comes into contact with MAG’s work and reporting concerns if they do arise.
