Principal Responsibilities
- Monitor and supervise mechanical inspections, servicing and repairs of all vehicles & mechanical assets within the assigned programme.
- Develop maintenance schedules for mechanical assets in keeping with MAG’s operational requirements and ensure/oversee their implementation.
- Managing a team of national mechanics, including delivery of training to national staff in order to strengthen capacity to conduct maintenance, repairs and use of vehicles and mechanical assets.
- Work closely with the programme mechanics to ensure efficient and effective maintenance, running and that repairs are carried out in a timely manner so as not to impact on programme delivery times.
- Project usage of consumables and spare parts for the mechanical assets held within the programme and assist the Logistics & Procurement Manager and HoSS with procurement there in line with programme SOP’s.
- Provide technical guidance in the selection of any vehicles & mechanical assets purchased within the programme.
- Maintain MAG mechanical workshop in order to provide timely servicing/repairing of vehicles and mechanical assets.
Manage and maintain a network of external suppliers and providers who can conduct repairs and maintence of MAG assets as required.
Communication and Reporting
- Communication and Reporting Ensure that the TOM & HoSS is fully briefed on all technical issues and prior to any necessary repair & modifications arising regarding vehicles & mechanical assets.
- As required by the TOM & HoSS, contribute to investigations and reports into all incidents/accidents & projects where MAG and causative vehicles & mechanical assets are concerned.
Essential Experience
- Experience in management of maintaining and repairing a wide range of mechanical assets including: diagnostics; welding -Skilled in welding/use of MIG welder; preventative maintenance; ability to find creative solutions
- Experience of reporting on a timely and accurate basis to the organisation
- Experience of managing and capacity building a team of national staff
Qualifications
- Relevant certification, licenses for different skills such as mechanics, welding, machine operation and management.
