Principal Responsibilities

  • He/ She is aware of the general concept of operations
  • Responsible for the correct and timely diagnosis, treatment and advice on medical problems of team members
  • Any medical problems encountered which fall outside of the limits of his training are to be referred up to suitably qualified medical personnel.
  • To have easy access to the area in which team members are working.
  • The ambulance is outside of the danger area
  • All medical stores and equipment are clean and serviceable.
  • All medical stores and equipment are placed in a secure location at the end of a working period.
  • Any damage to, or discrepancy in, medical stores and equipment is reported to the MAT team leader at the earliest possible opportunity.
  • In co-ordination with the MC, liaise with FOM’s, local officials and other agencies to further MAG’s aims and ensure operational medical efficiency.
  • Ensure that the MC, TFM and SS are fully briefed on all medical issues and any key difficulties arising.
  • Submit accurate reports as directed by the MC.
  • Ensure that accurate and thorough reports following investigation into all incidents/accidents are completed and provided to MC and with details of appropriate action taken, in accordance with MAG policies and procedures.

GENERAL

  • All MAG staff is expected to undertake the following general duties:
  • Work towards achieving departmental business plan objectives.
  • Work within the framework of MAG’s core values, promoting its ethos and mission statement.
  • Work as part of a team and liaise with other departments to ensure effective communications across the organization.
  • Ensure familiarity with and adhere to all MAG policies and procedures and Safeguarding Framework.
  • Ensure confidentiality of information as required by MAG policies and procedures.
  • Undertake any other duties appropriate to the post as may be required.
  • Aware of gender mainstreaming and ready to participate in gender awareness courses/training
  • Able to work in a mixed team

Requirements

  • Qualified Medic with minimum 2 years of experience as trauma Medic and 1-year experience as Medic in mine action.
