Re- advertisement: Detector/ Radio Technician

To provide maintenance of MAG mine detection equipment and other field equipment including radios and repeaters belonging to MAG offices, to support the day-to-day run of operations by ensuring that ongoing maintenance is carried out promptly and to the required standards.
The Detector/Radio Technician will be working in close collaboration with other staff members of TMEU department while maintaining effective communication. 
This position is part time at 50% rate and will be based in Nabatiyeh with frequent visits to North East Lebanon base.

Principal Responsibilities

  1. Test all the mine detection equipment’s, VHF/HF radio and GPS for improvement, safety, and quality control.
  2. Diagnose problems of mine detection equipment, VHF/HF radio and GPS and come up with solutions to repair them.
  3. Repair and maintenance of all the mine detection equipment, VHF/HF radio and GPS.
  4. Fill out detailed reports of mine detection equipment, VHF/HF radio and GPS and keep records on services that have been performed.
  5. Install new field equipment (repeaters), and test it to ensure each item is working correctly.
  6. Monitor and follow up on any changes in relevant systems and plan for the maintenance
  7. Responsible for all the materials, parts and tools entrusted.
  8. Plan and requests detector/radio spare parts as and when necessary

GENERAL

  • Understand and uphold the standards outlined in MAG’s Safeguarding Framework, acting with due care and attention to safeguard the wellbeing of anyone that comes into contact with MAG’s work and reporting concerns if they do arise. 

Essential Skills Required:

1. Qualified to conduct electronic and detection software updates.

2. Previous experience on repairs and maintenance of metal detectors (PIDD, Minelab F3 and VALLON).  

3. VALLON certified training desired.

4. Previous experience on repairs and maintenance of handheld radios (HF and VHF) and repeaters.
