Medical activities
- Apply medical knowledge and skills to diagnosis and prevention following national protocols
- If necessary prescribe relevant treatment according to set guidelines and protocols
- Check all children for vaccination status
- Refer patients to other health facilities if needed and follow up on referrals with nurses
- Identify needs in equipment, supplies and drugs in collaboration with nurses
- Prescribe drugs according to MoSA standard list
Pharmacy and medical equipment management
- Ensure no stock-outs of essential drugs in coordination with nurse and stock-keeper
- Prescribe in rational manner following treatment protocols and guidelines
- Contribute and monitor the quality of the disinfection and sterilization process of the material and medical equipment
Team and Organization Management
- Coordinate with nurses and social workers to visit and follow up on patients as needed
- Work closely with nurses and social workers to refer patients who need other services to appropriate organizations
- Motivate and train staff on health and medical issues
- Could propose protocols and guidelines for medical activities if they do not exit
Monitoring, Evaluation, Accountability, and Learning (MEAL)
- Participate in the development of the MEAL plan
- Continuously monitor medical activities and make propositions for improvement
- Ensure data is collected consistently and accurately
- Report immediately to medical supervisor any problem arising in the service, especially the loss/ robbery/damage of medical equipment or medicines.
Surveillance and Outbreak Response
- Ensure surveillance activities carried out according to national guidelines (weekly reporting and immediate reporting)
- Conduct investigations and assessments in case of suspected outbreaks
- Implement response plan in case of a confirmed outbreak in close coordination with Public Health Officer and Medical Supervisor and health actors
- Identify and report on risk factors for outbreaks
Competencies and Skills
- Licensed medical doctor, member of the Order of Physicians
- At least 3 years experience
- Working knowledge of English, fluent in Arabic
- Public health knowledge/experience is an asset
- Teambuilding, coaching and mentoring
- Able to work in stressful conditions
