Responsibilities
Design, implement, and evaluate health service delivery systems to improve the health of targeted populations.
Establish and maintain liaison with medical treatment facility and local public health agencies social service agencies, public safety workers to ensure an integrated public health program.
Identify required facilities and resources. Prepare regulations and operating instructions, acquire technical bulletins, and present training to support government public health.
Serve as technical advisor and evaluate public health education programs dealing with topics such as preventable diseases, injuries, nutrition, food service sanitation, water supply safety, sewage and waste disposal, insect control, and immunizations and recommend change in policies and procedures, including effectiveness and compliance with standards.
Provide guidance and support for clinicians, particularly in primary care settings, to play a more effective role in preventative healthcare.
Initiate, direct, and conduct preventive medicine and communicable disease control programs.
Notify the MoSA team about trends or outbreaks that may affect the local and displaced populations. Directs and conducts epidemiological investigations of communicable diseases and food borne disease outbreaks, and makes recommendations.
Maintain close liaison with other agencies, mainly the Ministry of Public Health and UN agencies, to develop procedures for prompt identification, investigation, evaluation, and reporting of occupational illnesses.
Deliver presentations to lay or professional audiences.
Design or use surveillance tools, such as screening, lab reports, and vital records, to identify health risks and disease trends and advise on interventions.
Identify groups at risk for specific preventable diseases or injuries.
Perform epidemiological investigations of acute and chronic diseases.
Prepare preventive health reports including problem descriptions, analyses, alternative solutions, and recommendations.
Provide information about potential health hazards and possible interventions to the media, the public, other health care professionals, or local, state, and federal health authorities.
Coordinate with the relevant departments at the MoPH to ensure that the emergency efforts comply with national standards and policies.
Coordinate with local and international NGOs and liaise with the SDC Department at MoSA for eventual health interventions at SDC level.
Coordinate with the relevant UNICEF staff regarding the health aspect of the MOSA National Plan regarding planning and implementation and liaise with the SDC department at MOSA.
Support the MoSA SDC Department to supervise and coordinate the work of physicians, nurses, statisticians, or other professional staff members at the SDCs.
Work with International Public Health Experts brought in to support the emergency
Represent MOSA in central level health coordination such as MOPH Steering Committee, Central Health Working Group and Health Core Group.
