MOSAIC MENA is seeking a committed and responsible individual to join our shelter team as a Safety and Protection Officer under a Cash-for-Work programme supporting vulnerable and marginalized communities in Lebanon.
This position plays a key role in ensuring the safety, wellbeing, and stability of shelter residents during non-working hours, particularly overnight.
Position Details:
Position Title: Safety and Protection Officer
Duration: 6 months
Type: Part-time / Live-in Night Position
Working Hours: Primarily evenings, overnight presence, and weekends as needed
Programme Type: Cash-for-Work
Priority Consideration: Individuals with lived experience and strong understanding of community protection needs are highly encouraged to apply.
Main Responsibilities
The Safety and Protection Officer will be responsible for:
- Overseeing shelter coordination and resident wellbeing after organizational working hours.
- Ensuring the physical safety and security of residents during the night.
- Supporting conflict prevention and conflict resolution among residents in a calm, respectful, and non-discriminatory manner.
- Responding appropriately to emergencies or urgent incidents and contacting relevant staff when needed.
- Monitoring the shelter environment and ensuring that residence rules and safety measures are respected.
- Providing basic support to residents and ensuring urgent needs are addressed when possible.
- Reporting incidents, concerns, or protection-related matters to the Case Manager and Social Worker.
- Coordinating closely with MOSAIC staff regarding follow-up needs and safety concerns.
- Supporting a safe, inclusive, and respectful shelter environment for all residents.
Requirements
- Strong sense of responsibility, confidentiality, and professionalism.
- Ability to remain calm and respond effectively in stressful or emergency situations.
- Good interpersonal and communication skills.
- Experience in community work, protection, shelter support, social work, peer support, or humanitarian settings is considered an asset.
- Understanding of marginalized communities and protection-sensitive approaches.
- Willingness to stay overnight in the shelter residence as part of the role.
- Basic reporting and coordination skills.
Arabic required; English is an asset.
