Shadow teacher Job opportunity

  • Education is an important element in the CBR intervention, the project team in cooperation with local actors will conduct a case management assessment, and then sort those who need education, and intervene to secure a place in the nearest kindergarten or schools. This might include supporting schools fees, transportations cost, environmental adaptation to improve accessibility.

The referral element of the project will be active to contact local educational institution besides partner organization to coordinate placement of beneficiaries in best inclusive environment.

The intervention should include staff training in the targeted kindergartens and schools,  establishing resource rooms which includes adapted educational material, and involving shadow teachers 

 

ob Title: Shadow Teacher

* Job Summary: The Shadow Teacher will provide individualized assistance to a children with disabilty in an inclusive kindergarten setting. The Shadow Teacher will work closely with the classroom teacher and other professionals to ensure that the student is able to navigate the learning environment, achieve academic and social goals, and thrive in the classroom.

* Responsibilities:

- Establish a positive and supportive relationship with the student, building trust and helping them feel comfortable in the classroom

- Facilitate communication between the student, the teacher, and other classmates, ensuring that the student understands instructions and information

- Modify or adapt instructional materials to meet the student's unique needs, using visual aids, simplifying language, or breaking down tasks into smaller steps

- Provide emotional support to the student, helping them manage anxiety, frustration, or other emotions that may arise during the school day

- Help the student manage their behavior, using positive reinforcement strategies and redirection techniques to encourage appropriate behavior and discourage disruptive behavior

- Collaborate with the classroom teacher, inclusion officer, therapists, and other professionals to ensure that the student's needs are being met

- Attend IEP meetings and other professional development opportunities as required

- Maintain accurate records of the student's progress and report to the classroom teacher and other professionals as needed

- Follow school policies and procedures for reporting concerns or incidents

 

* Requirements:

- Bachelor's or technical degree in education, special education, or a related field

- Experience working with students with disability in a classroom setting, preferably in an inclusive kindergarten environment

- Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build positive relationships with students, teachers, and other professionals

- Patience, creativity, and dedication to helping students with special needs succeed in the classroom

- Ability to adapt to changing situations and work as part of a team to support the student's success

- Knowledge of evidence-based practices and strategies for supporting students with disability, such as positive behavior support, differentiated instruction, and Universal Design for Learning
