Job Purpose
Under the direct supervision of the Executive Director and in close coordination with the Programs, Communication & Meal departments , the Fundraising & Business Development Manager leads the development and implementation of a comprehensive business development and partnerships strategy. The role ensures the diversification of funding sources, effective pipeline management, strategic engagement with donors and partners, and the exploration of innovative funding models.
Duties & Responsibilities:
1. Resource Mobilization & Funding Diversification
- Develop and implement a multi-year business development strategy aligned with organizational priorities.
- Identify and secure funding from institutional donors, foundations, private sector, and individual contributors.
- Increase the share of unrestricted and flexible funding.
- Lead the preparation and submission of high-quality proposals, concept notes, and donor reports.
2. Donor Knowledge & Pipeline Management
- Establish and maintain a structured system and funding pipeline.
- Conduct donor mapping, analysis, and positioning strategies.
- Track funding opportunities from identification to award and ensure timely submissions.
- Strengthen internal processes, tools, and capacities related to business development.
3. Strategic Partnerships & External Engagement
- Develop and manage partnerships with private sector, diaspora?, and philanthropic actors.
- Ensure all partnerships comply with ethical standards and organizational values.
- Represent the organization in external coordination forums and networking platforms.
- Negotiate and formalize partnership agreements.
4. Community Engagement & Individual Giving
- Design and implement strategies to mobilize individual supporters, alumni, and networks.
- Collaborate with communications teams to enhance outreach and engagement.
- Promote long-term supporter relationships and ambassador programs.
5. Innovation & Revenue Generation
- Identify and pilot innovative, low-risk revenue-generating initiatives.
- Conduct feasibility studies and risk assessments.
- Monitor and evaluate financial and social returns of initiatives.
- Qualifications & Experience
- Advanced university degree (Master’s) in Business Administration, International Development, Social Sciences, or related field.
- 7+ years of progressively responsible experience in business development, partnerships & grants
- Proven track record in securing funding from institutional donors and/or private sector.
- Proven experience in proposal writing and partnership management.
- Experience in NGO/INGO environment required.
- Familiarity with regional donor landscape is an asset.
