MAIN RESPONSIBILITIES:
Supervision:
In Collaboration with the Child Protection National Coordinator, the Mental Health advisor will:
- Provide technical support, coaching and training of Mental Health team members according to a set plan to enhance the quality of Mental Health activities, supervision of referrals;
- Conduct regular Mental Health team meetings and/or individual meetings and detailed monitoring of both quality and efficiency of mental health services;
- Promote the professional development of Mental Health staff, assess their training needs and encourage participation on relevant national training opportunities;
- Prepare minutes and action points of monthly Mental Health meetings for sharing with the child Protection coordinator;
- When needed, meet with the Child Protection area Officers to review the implementation of MH activities;
- Ensure that challenges are addressed and activities’ load is manageable;
- Monitor practices and ensure that Mental Health activities are abiding by the principles and Mouvement Social Internal Operational Procedures;
Implementation:
- Provide advisory to urgent and life threatening cases and when Mental Health Professional/psychotherapist is unsure how to respond;
- Ensure Mental Health staff’s access to material, technical, and logistical support for their services;
- Ensure the implementation of Mental Health activities according to children’s age and situation and according to specific psychotherapeutic ways and methods;
- Ensure that Mental Health Professional/psychotherapist are feeding into the progress reviews for all opened cases along with child and family (when needed and appropriate);
- Ensure that referrals are received exclusively from case workers for cases exhibiting Mental Health symptoms (as by Mouvement Social Internal Operational Procedures);
- Ensure that psychological assessment for high risk children and child survivors is performed by the Mental Health Professional/psychotherapist and interventions according to risk are prioritized;
- Ensure that a therapeutic plan of action that illustrates the approach being used to support the child is well designed;
- Ensure that high effective psychotherapy sessions are conducted and psychological support to families and caregivers of high risk children and child survivors is provided when needed;
- Ensure that training to Mouvement Social field staff on screening and detecting mental health concerns and referrals is provided by trained Mental Health Professional/psychotherapist;
- Contribute to the revision of PSS curricula when needed;
Documentation:
- Ensure that patient data and files are treated in a confidential manner and that the Mental Health services are provided to the highest ethical standards;
- Ensure that Data Protection Protocol and Information Sharing Agreements are in place and staff are trained;
- Ensure thattools and forms are being used and coordinate with Child Protection National Coordinator on need for revisions/ additional tools and forms;
- Conduct regular progress file audits to ensure data protection protocols are being adhered to and cases are being documented regularly;
- Design a patient file that outlines the progress of the therapeutic plan session by session used by the Mental Health Professional/psychotherapist;
- Ensure that Mental Health Professional/psychotherapist is participating in trainings on confidentiality and data protection protocols;
- Ensure all Mental Health Professional/psychotherapist’s actions are documented thoroughly and weekly in the progress file and other forms, including observations, actions taken and discussions held with child and family;
Reporting:
- Report, analyze, and evaluate the Mental Health activities according to the expected standard and deadlines,
- Provide feedback on mental health reports;
