MEAL Officer

 

Key Responsibilities:

1. Monitoring and Evaluation (M&E):

  • Assist in the development and implementation of monitoring and evaluation plans for various projects across the organization.
  • Coordinate and assist in baseline, mid-term, and end-line evaluations.
  • Support the design of data collection tools (e.g., surveys, interviews, focus group guides) and ensure their relevance to the context and the organization in line with best practices.
  • Conduct field visits to monitor project activities and ensure that data collection aligns with planned objectives.
  • Ensure the collection, cleaning, and analysis of data using appropriate software (e.g., Excel, SPSS, or specialized software).

2. Accountability:

  • Ensure the proper functioning of feedback mechanisms, including surveys, hotlines, or other means for beneficiaries to voice their concerns and collect their feedback.
  • Provide timely reporting of feedback and complaints, ensuring that proper follow-up is conducted.

3. Learning and Reporting:

  • Assist in compiling project reports and ensuring timely submission to donors and stakeholders.
  • Provide weekly workplan with updated accomplishments.
  • Share regular oral reporting, debriefing and feedback to the Projects Coordinator and Program Manager.
  • Work closely with teams to identify key lessons learned and contribute to the improvement of program designs and strategies.
  • Contribute to periodic project reviews, ensuring that any challenges or lessons are addressed in future programming.
  • Document and share learning outcomes with relevant internal and external stakeholders.

 

4. Collaboration & Capacity Building:

  • Provide training and support to staff and partners on MEAL tools, processes, and systems.
  • Encourage a culture of learning and accountability across the organization.
  • Collaborate with program teams to ensure that MEAL activities are integrated into project cycles.

 

5. Data Management and Analysis:

  • Ensure accurate and timely collection of data, adhering to ethical standards and guidelines.
  • Analyze data and provide actionable insights to improve the effectiveness of ongoing and future projects.

Qualifications:
Education and Experience:
• A minimum of bachelor’s degree in project management, information management, data analytics, social sciences, public health or a related field.
• A minimum of 2 years of experience in monitoring and evaluation and/or research, preferably in an NGO setting.
