NAHNOO is a registered Lebanese Non-Governmental & Non-Profit Organization. NAHNOO has been working since 2009 as a research, capacity-building and advocacy platform for participatory policymaking, towards an inclusive society in Lebanon. The NGO rallies volunteers across Lebanon and through multidisciplinary and participatory research, capacity-building workshops, and grassroots activities, we provide a platform for youth and professionals to lead the planning and implementation of advocacy campaigns and gain the skills needed to impact policy-making at the local and national levels.

Project Background
In the context of the socio-economic and humanitarian crises which have been affecting Lebanon, including the Bekaa, NAHNOO is studi ying opportunities for development in the town of Shmestar in order to develop an adapted local development plan. Using a participatory approach, NAHNOO focuses on socioeconomic aspects (MSMEs, CBOs, civil society engagement and social cohesion) to achieve an analytical and diagnostic framework to accelerate the development of the area of intervention , targeting around 200 beneficiaries. The results will be integrated in the formulation of a local development plan, including a roadmap of suggested interventions for durable and inclusive development, with priority interventions for the short-medium term and future funding.
Objective/purpose of consultancy:
NAHNOO is seeking an Economic expert to provide an economic analysis review of the town of Shmestar (Bekaa), ensuring the inclusion of the economic dimension in the localized development study conducted by NAHNOO, resulting in a customized strategy.
Scope of work, format and key task:
Main tasks expected:
- Preparation: Develop the necessary desk review and design the relevant tools to gather the economic data within the study.
- Delivery: conduct data cleaning, identify finding and develop the analysis of the collected data resulting with recommendations formulation.
- Coordination & follow up: Coordinate and carry out activities related to the framework of the research in close collaboration with NAHNOO’s team (participate in progress meetings etc)
Qualifications/level requirements
Applicants with the following experience are welcome to apply:
- Minimum Master’s degree in Economics or similar, PhD degree in Economic is an advantage.
- At least 5 years of documented professional experience working in the economics field in Lebanon, especially towards local development
- Past collaborations with the civil society (CSOs, CBOs etc) is a must
- Proven proficiency in the current Lebanese socioeconomic context;
- Strong analytical and conceptual thinking skills;
- Ability to deliver high quality results in a timely manner;
- Fluency in English (written and spoken) is mandatory;
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office, including Excel, Word and PowerPoint.
Proposed period and duration of consultancy
The period of consultancy is between January and March 2022; number of expert days required to be confirmed upon the selection of the candidate (at least 5 full days)
NB: 1 full day of work = 8h
Selection criteria:
The consultant will be selected based on the competitiveness and quality of the technical (C.V) and financial proposal.
