Education Consultant " Unpaid Internship "

Najda now international (NNI) established an elementary school for Syrian refugee children in Bekaa Lebanon. The school aim to provide education for 5oo children in Aldalhamieh area. The NNI Education Program strategy aims at supporting refugee children in achieving their full potential and enjoying their right to education. 1.      Role and responsibilities The following is a brief description of the role. Generic responsibilities: Assess the and collect beneficiaries data (out of school children) within outreach activities and mobilization sessions; Mobilize the Refugees Communities making them accountable on the implementation of community based education (community participatory model designed in project outreach strategy) Assess the equipment’s needs of Learning Spaces and report them to project’s supervisors; Participate to implementation and monitoring of Community Based Education activities: monitor  the teacher’s performance and attendance Ensure that NNI activities are implemented in accordance to INEE Minimum Standards for Education in Emergency, Minimum Standards for Child Protection in Humanitarian Action (include monitoring of child abuse and/or mistreatment); Draft report upon request of the supervisors and according to defined tools Specific responsibilities Participate in the assessment of teachers’ training needs and organize teachers’ communities of practice; Conduct trainings for teachers and continue to support teachers through regular coaching. Perform other related duties as required Coordinate with other NGO’s providing education throw attending the EWG “Education working group” Make sure that the education will be top quality at the school and that the children will benefit to a high standard and that evidence will be obtained to prove it during the project. Assist in the implementation of the educational plan and work to develop it Critical interfaces Relevant interfaces for this position are: Community members and parents groups. Teachers MEHE district office and UNRWA Education Team Children. Achievement Indicators Quality of Education Activities is ensured through proper monitoring and classroom observations Quality induction for teachers and in service training are properly implemented and monitored during the project implementation; Right to Education is promoted through mobilization of local communities;   2.      Competencies  1. Professional competencies Generic professional competencies for this position: Relevant Education Background: University Degree in Education Teaching experience Experience from working in a humanitarian/recovery context Previous experience from working in complex and volatile contexts Documented results related to the position’s responsibilities Understanding of protection/ child protection issues. Awareness and understanding on the INEE Minimum standards and related tools Experience in working with communities 2. Behavioral competencies Managing resources to optimize results Handling insecure environments Empowering and building trust Open minded and flexible Appropriate time keeping and organized
