ASPIRE
1.Objective of the Assignment
The objective of this consultancy is to design and deliver four participatory training sessions for WSMCs based on Naseej Foundation’s WSMC Training Plan.
The sessions will enhance participants’ capacities in:
• Water supply and quality management
• Sanitation and wastewater systems
• Hygiene promotion and inclusive community engagement
• Waterborne disease prevention and emergency preparedness

2.Scope of Work and Responsibilities
The Trainer will be responsible for the design, facilitation, and reporting of the four training sessions, as detailed below:

Session 1: Water Supply Management
Duration: 4–6 hours
Main Topics:
• Safe collection, transportation, and storage of water
• Operation and maintenance of community water systems
• Water quality monitoring and basic testing
Objectives:
• Understand the water supply chain from source to household
• Identify contamination risks and prevention methods
• Learn basic water testing and chlorination techniques
Expected Outcome:
Participants can safely manage and monitor local water sources and storage systems.

Session 2: Sanitation and Wastewater Management
Duration: 4–6 hours
Main Topics:
• Proper latrine design and use
• Wastewater collection and safe disposal
• Prevention of open defecation
Objectives:
• Improve knowledge on sanitation systems and hygiene
• Promote good community sanitation practices
Expected Outcome:
WSMCs adopt safe and environmentally sound sanitation and wastewater practices.

Session 3: Hygiene Promotion and Community Engagement
Duration: 4–6 hours
Main Topics:
• Handwashing, menstrual hygiene, and food safety
• Conducting awareness sessions
• Inclusion of vulnerable groups (women, elderly, persons with disabilities)
Objectives:
• Strengthen community-level hygiene awareness and inclusive engagement
• Integrate inclusive approaches in awareness campaigns
Expected Outcome:
WSMCs can design and deliver inclusive community hygiene campaigns.

Session 4: Waterborne Disease Prevention and Emergency Response
Duration: 4–6 hours
Main Topics:
• Major waterborne diseases (cholera, diarrhea, etc.) and outbreak response
• Link between water quality and public health
• Coordination with health authorities and local preparedness planning
Objectives:
• Recognize symptoms and causes of major waterborne diseases
• Apply prevention and control measures
• Strengthen local preparedness and response coordination
Expected Outcome:
Communities are better prepared to detect and respond to WASH-related health risks.
The Trainer will be responsible for:
1. Preparation Phase
• Review the WSMC Training Plan and adapt content to the Akkar context.
• Develop detailed session plans, PowerPoints, handouts, and practical exercises.
• Coordinate with Naseej Foundation to finalize training schedule, logistics, and participant lists.
2. Training Delivery
• Conduct four sessions, each lasting 4–6 hours, using participatory and practical approaches (presentations, demonstrations, role plays, and group work).
• Ensure all sessions include gender-sensitive and inclusive approaches, especially addressing the needs of women, persons with disabilities, and vulnerable groups.
• Facilitate field observations, demonstrations (e.g., handwashing, water testing), and simulation exercises as required.
3. Post-Training
• Conduct pre- and post-assessments to measure participants’ knowledge and skills gained.
• Submit a brief training report summarizing session content, participant feedback, results, and recommendations.

• University degree in Public Health, Environmental Engineering, Water and Sanitation, Community Development, or a related field
• Minimum 5 years of experience in conducting WASH trainings or capacity-building projects
• Proven knowledge of WASH systems, hygiene promotion, and public health
• Demonstrated experience in adult learning and participatory facilitation
• Strong communication and reporting skills in Arabic and English
• Experience working in Akkar or similar rural and vulnerable communities is an asset
